Can't say I could complain too much with that of The Ring. Maybe I'd take Tarver out of there, but not sure who to replace him with, possibly Hopkins. (I had him winning both fights against Taylor).

I wouldn't go putting De La Hoya in there so quickly. It was a good performance against Mayorga but nobody would have had him in their top twenty. Remember De La Hoya is 2-1 in his last three fights, arguably 1-2. To make him a P4P top ten fighter after looking good against Mayorga is getting a bit carried away.

But if it was all time rankings i would have him there with the top 20, so to leave him out while he is active would be silly for me!

I might slide him down to 7th but he will stay in my top 10 for now!

Marco Antonio Barrera is my favorite current boxer, possibly my favorite of all time. I would not put him in the number two slot however. It depends how you rank P4P fighters. If you're ranking them on the basis of what they've accomplished to date then MAB is definitely up there, but if you match them up with potential fighters then he can't be above Pacquiao. Pacquiao is the man at 130 right now. Barrera was devastated by him before and is only getting older. I'm not saying Barrera is through but I wouldn't be surprised if 2007 will be his last year. Pacquiao is the favorite in any match up at 130 lbs. right now, is in his prime condition, and has lots potential to improve himself. MAB is at the beginning of the end. I hope Pac-man beats Juarez and Morales then fights and loses to MAB but that would be a very unlikely circumstace.

Taylor?

How can anyone put Taylor in there, he beat a 42 yr old Bernard Hopkins who was never really pound for pound, just a very strong, good fighter

Taylor is good fighter, but P4P ? no way near, much to prove

Barrera's by far the best P4P fighter cos he's been P4P for almost a decade

The only reason why Mayweather is at the top is that so far he has proven unbeatable against top world class -but he will get beat

Although I am a big Hatton fight he should be around no 9/10, much to prove. As with Taylor, you cannot just beat one veteran legend coming towards the end of his career and expect to be regarded P4P.

Hopkins was everybody's pfp #1 prior to the first Taylor fight, disposed of opponents like DLH or Eastman with ease, in spite of his age. Beating Hopkins twice certainly proves 100 times more than clobbering, say, hand-selected Lacy.

I agree Hopkins was good but he beat smaller fighters, never fought supermiddles but welterweights, he was too strong for them, don't talk about Eastman! who has never fought to his full potential and couldn't match it at top world class.

Hopkins should be in the P4P over what he has achieved over the last couple of years, but Taylor was the first proper / big middleweight he has fought in ages and at 42, father time was on him, he could only fight a minute of each round.

If Taylor beats Winky, not in close decision but outright then I might reconsider, but at the moment no.

Calzaghe has beaten a few good fighters not just Lacy (Good win but not his best)

DLH was never a middleweight and Eastman was hardly P4P. You're right, Joe C absolutely clobbered Lacy - but did Taylor clobber Hopkins? No. He didn't look confident at the end of either fight. Despite youth, speed & power advantages he was unable to get an undisputed decision over an aged Hops. Taylor took more punishment in both fights - Hopkins lost because he left it too late both times (admittedly credit must be given to Taylor for making Hops reluctant to come forward).

The winner of Taylor vs Winky is pfp #2.

How can anyone have Pacman below Barrera is beyond me. And who exactly has Barrera beat since Morales? Peden - hardly P4P.

Also Tarver - beat everyone hes ever faced including 5-6 top10 LHWs and the ATG RJJ who else has beaten everyone they've ever faced? Barrera? No Morales? No Pacman? No Corrales? No Castillo? No

Plus if 1 guy gets in on 1 win (Hatton) you have to let in others (Taylor, John)

And how is Corrales on anyones list after losing while other losing fighters drop that were higher than him - Tyszu, Hopkins, JM Marquez,

The illogicalness of P4P lists

ALSO HERES A Q - How can someone be P4P when they weight drain and are always fighting smaller guys. Thats a mockery of P4P its scale manipulation. If Castillo and Corrales are P4p then have them step upto 147 where they belong.

rant Over 4 Now

Well Hatton made Tszyu quit. It's the manner of the victory. Taylor had controversial decisions over Hopkins. I didn't see the Marquez-John fight but he decisioned him, didn't he?

There is an argument for keeping Corrales in there. I don't have him on my list but no problem with anybody else doing so. He fought against a guy who didn't try to make weight and this would have made a difference. These guys have to starve themselves to get rid of those last few pounds. Castillo may have still won by KO but if he wanted to erase all doubt, he should have made weight.

1. Manny Pacquiao - Fights the best out there, and beats them.
2. Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
3. Winky Wright
4. Marco Antonio Barrera - May lose his spot forever if he loses to Rocky.
5. Jose Luis Castillo
6. Joe Calzaghe
7. Ricky Hatton
8. Rafael Marquez
9. Jermaine Taylor
10. Antonio Tarver

I suggest you also find a spot for Danny Williams, Carl Thompson and Scott Harrison.

You have dared to put Calzaghe in there. Anyone who knows anything about boxing knows that Lacey was a nobody and Joe shouldn't be in the P4P top hundred.

So Calzaghe isn't a P4P'r yet Hopkins still is?

I think beating the 2nd rated in his div no matter how good you think he is, entitles him to a PPV spot. It did for Tarver and he hardly won in a convincing fashion like Calzaghe did. Also funny thing is, I know alot of people here will favour Calzaghe to beat Tarver.

If you look around you'll find it's not only me who thinks Calzaghe is a P4P fighter. Can't be assed arguing with you though as it's same old shit.

Now follow me to the current scene bitch. :TU:

I wouldn't be so quick to say Lacey or Calzaghe are shit. Super Middle Weight is an empty uninteresting division so it makes sense that neither one have any major fights but that doesn't mean they aren't good fighters. Lacey definitely isn't any where near P4P but Calzaghe could be put up there for the same reason Hatton is. Both Hatton and Calzaghe have a long list of title defenses against international B grade fighters and one outstanding win against "The man" in their divisions. The difference is Lacey was in his prime where as Tszyu was on his way out and pretty damn old for 140 lbs. fighter.

He beat the #6 rated in his division (according to my rating). Barely enough to make it from #2 to #1 in his own division....

Yeah, and most of these have been born on a certain rainy island.... As have Williams, Thomspon, and Harrison, to come back to my original intervention. So why not throw in those as well? :TU:

not really, as hopkins had no firepower left, was 40/41 and taylor probably didn't deserve to win those fights. jermain was bitterly disappointing

anyhow, what the fornicate is de la hoya doing so hight on most lists, and why is lorenzo parra not on any?
