Not on about the Hatton vs Collazo fight, but the aftermath.

We have Oktay Urkal who has been a long waiting mandatory.

Now we have TWO fights currently scheduled as eliminators.

Joel Julio vs Carlos Quintana (which I've mentioned before)

and Paul Williams vs Walter Mattthyse on the excellent 27th of May HBO card (featuring Jhonny Gonzales vs Fernando Montiel).

......To date, the WBA has withheld sanctioning of the fight because Collazo's mandatory defense against #1 ranked contender Oktay Urkal is due. However, moments ago an agreement was reached between Sauerland Event general manager Chris Meyer representing Urkal and Fight Academy's Richard Poxon representing Hatton. "The winner must face Oktay Urkal within 120 days of May 13," Meyer told Fightnews.com. "Of course, this must be approved by the WBA." With the cooperation of Urkal, it is expected that the WBA will now approve Saturday's Collazo-Hatton fight.

What are the odds of Hatton giving up the belt to fight Gatti instead?

I'm pretty certain Hatton will give up the title to fight Margarito or Baldomir

The guys behind Hatton's "American Adventure" seem to be pretty caught up in the idea of Gatti then PBF. Guess we'll see.

I cant honestly see him fighting Urkal if he wins!

I see Oktay giving the Hitman a tough fight, he has a great heart and a good chin. Anyway I see a late TKO by Hatton but it would be a great European matchup, maybe at the Waldbühne in Berlin (Open Air Arena) with 20 - 30,000 spectators. There would also be some money for the Hitman and more and more fans in Europe´s biggest boxing market.......

Come over Ricky!!! After the MEN experience I would love to see him again.

I think he might fight Urkal for an 'easy' fight (wouldn't be easy but he might see it that way). If Floyd fights DLH then he wont be available til sometime in 2007. Gatti wont be available til sometime next year either so he's going to have to fight someone before then.

maybe. but FA don't seem the most organized. Hatton-Collazo and Woods-Delisle 2 were almost not going to be santioned as world title fights. before Collazo was chosen, there was that endless rigmarole where it came to the point that no one gave a shit who the opponent was.

Gatti won't want to fight another elite fighter. Mayweather obliterated him and he has an opening due to Baldomir. I think Baldomir beats him anyway. Gatti never wanted anything to do with Tszyu either.

Mayweather isn't going to be the easiest fighter to negotiate with (neither is hatton, it would seem), and maybe hatton needs a couple of fights beforehand. I say Margarito as he was overlooked during the big welter showdowns (Mosley, Forrest, Mayorga, Spinks, Judah) and must be screaming for a big fight. Also, I'm sure HB would approve of him as it'd be an action fight

Urkal will not be a part of the HBO three fight deal so why would Hatton be bothered fighting him.

No way will Hatton take on Urkal if he wins the WBA strap - too boring a fight, just like the MBaye fight for example.
The face first Gatti is much more likely option - assuming he actualy wins the Collazo fight that is.

And none of them will fancy Joel Julio at the moment, as no one is sure just how good he actualy is.

And I seriously doubt they'll take on the very dangerous Margarito - too big & too good.

remember seeing quintana on ch5 a few months back and i was very impressed with him.

urkal won the european title and has good backing over in germany. plus he fought for the wba title 3 times before.

Yeah that looks a terrific 50/50 cross roads fight. Two unbeaten punchers - I see Quintana flattened the boxer who KO'd Collazo too, so has to be a serious threat to the much hyped Colombian banger.
HBO televise....when's that PPV boxing channel up & running over here? What are they waiting for, Doomsday??

The Paul Williams vs Walter Matthyse bout also looks like a 50:50 one.. Think HBO are also covering it... Great card that one, if your a fan of the lower weights.

When he was fighting his first 10 fights against journymen waming up yeah.

My question was how Urkal was mandatory though.

I really have no interest in seeing Hatton-Urkal.

I've been very impressed with Julio, so if hitman is right this Quintana must really be something.
