OFF TOPIC: SOOTY or SWEEP?

Not strictly boxing although I did almost come to blows with a mate about this last night

He posits that Sweep was the genius and carried Sooty who was a lame duck

I argued that, like all great straight men, it was Sooty's comedic discipline that allowed Sweep to free form while keeping it just the right side of indulgent

It was a tragedy when they split. He blamed Sue for her "yoko" vibes. Me? I blame Sweep's voracious gak habit and Sooty's "love that dare not speak its name" with Butch

Carry on

Anyone that doesn't recognise Sweep as one of the greatest ever Englishmen should be hung.

Bungle from rainbow was banging Sue for years behind Sootys back. FACT.

The whole crew from rainbow were a punch of fags, no way was Bungle banging Sue. Plus the size difference would have been hard on her

They didn't call him Zippy for nothing.

Rod, Jane, and Freddy were the most disturbing bunch from that programme...

A mate of mine when I was a kid, his dad was Bungle.....strange but true, we saw the costume round his house one day, and when we asked him about it, he said it was his dad's as he dressed up as bungle in the show and did the voice. What was more disturbing however was the crotchless version which hung next to it....

I was at an after party for a play once and met the guy who wrote the Rainbow song. He looked like a real aging rocker, but that was his success :D He said he was still living off that song (I met him about 9 years ago, so I wonder if he still is)

I once met the guy who did the voice of Hector in Hector's House

He was, believe it or not, called Kevin Bacon and, in real life, sounded just like Hector

[satire]   That's fact is it? Keep on making the tea SM2006. I can tell YOU for a FACT that Bungle never EVER banged Sue. He had plenty of chances to do so when the new contract with ITV was negociated. But Bungle's Dad got greedy and decided he could sell Rainbow to the US. Absolute farce. If Rainbow gets more than 10 PPV's I will personally send £500 to the charity of Zippy's choice.[/satire]

Your blatant Sooty bias sickens me.

Sweep was carrying him from day 1. The poor bastard lives near my mum in assisted care without a pot to piss in. All the while Sooty still takes the accolades.

Sweep was a colossus of British comedy and i will deck anyone who refuses to acknowledge this.

your pro-Sweep, anti-Sooty agenda has been clear for some time now Shirow.

Anyone else caught the odd 5mins here and there of KNIGHTMARE on Challenge TV? Quality..

"walk forward two half-steps"

"left"

"LEFT!"

In the end, I guess, it was Harry H Corbett who was the real Svengali

I recall reading somewhere that Sooty & Sweep were just his puppets and he had a hand in all their affairs

I also heard that the crew from Rainbow and the crew from Playschool had a full on rumble when Bungle said that Jemima " was the Kid's TV bike"

Apparently, it took Hartley Hare and Mungo and Midge to break it up

God, I remember that program from yesteryear. Absolutely fantastic. That guy with the beard who hosted it, and his little hob-goblin sidekick. When that and the crystal maze was on the same night I had trouble containing myself

Hartley and Pipkin, a very strange show, right up there with the Moomins.

Its Sweep every time for me, i'll never forget that classic line " squeak squeak!" hahahaha! Plus Sooty was a one trick pony, that water pistol got very old, very quick.

In related news, Barnaby the Bear was killed outside London nightclub Chinawhites last night. Police are looking for one of the Herbs in connection with the killing.

YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!

Sooty, the stuck-up little fu<k who only talked to Matthew (whatsamatter Sooty, aren't we good enough?) would get a shoeing. Sweep was a real man. If he caught Sooty without that shooter he was so fond of, it'd be bear pie for din-dins!

Not a chance

One " izzy whizzy let's get busy" and we would be seeing a whole lot of puppy pooh

Sweep was all mouth.
