That sounds entirely plausible. I got stuck in Manchester on a Saturday after Hatton v Pendleton and had to get a guest house, the last train left at bloody 10.30!

last train is 22:14

I think there is a very early train to Manchester for the airport run...something like 3.30...blag an invite to the after party then job's a good un!

You'll have to get a ticket from someone - if you explain your situation to Fight Academy's Press officer Ant Evans, he might look kindly upon you...but I suspect he'll be incredibly busy though.

sheffield is not a dive - or have i missed a very subtle joke about the venue for the fight?

anyway, have you tried coaches? - think they run later.

it's an absolutely ridiculous situation all in all and works both ways - me and me mates had to get a cab from manchester to sheff after the mozza gig a couple of years back - luckily there were 5 of us so the sixty quid didn't hurt too much.

Had the same thing after the 1st Woods fight in Sheffield, was staying with a mate in Leeds but by the time I got out of the arena, there were no bloody trains. I ended up getting a lift back with this trainee IBO judge, who turned out to be well and truly dodgy, was driving on a ban, and the back windscreen just exploded and flew out of the car on the motorway! The police pulled us over and everything.

Sheffield is a nightmare to get from, i ended up staying in a b+b after the last Hatton fight, theres no way i'd have made the train in time.

The B+B was above a pub, which i managed to spill most of my pint over the most dangerous bloke in the pub, luckily the rest of the pint just went over his tabaco and papers. Oh how we laughed.

No doubt you and him have stayed in touch and often laugh about your first meeting.

Kevo, anyone not from Manchester Nah, I'm a PC guy so a woolyback to me is Bolton (but strictly speaking they are Yonners) or that neck of the woods and Yorkshire.

Shleppers eh? Thats the nicest thing anyone from Manchester's ever called me! We just call yous 'Mancs'. You can see a lot of thought went into it.

Never had any trouble in the few times i've been the MEN. Think its all to do with the footy myself.

reason i never go to fights for any of the websites i've written for is cos you really have to get a hotel, which is a good £75

they are two big cities by british standards that are only 30 miles apart.
i think in any place in the world when you get two places close together they become natural rivals (like springfield and shelbyville!) but in liverpool and manchesters case they are also 2 cities rich in culture and sport.
just look at some of the bands that have come from the two cities............
the beatles, the smiths, echo and the bunnymen, oasis, new order, joy division, the la`s, the bee gee`s, the stone roses, elvis costello, the hollies, gerry and the pacemakers, frankie goes to hollywood, hermans hermits, the happy mondays, the buzzcocks, the inspiral carpets, the charlatans, the lightning seeds, the farm, the christians, julian cope etc
whatever genre you pick the two cities slug it out toe to toe and when you consider liverpools population is less than a million and manchesters probably 2 million they more than punch their weight in terms of sport, music, culture - whatever.
