David haye fight on 29/6

not the best looking opponent "Ismail Abdul"
http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=19825 seems to be a carrer light heavy, anyone know anything about him?

Yes, fought Enzo Mac a couple of years back and also fought Vincezo Cantatore.
A survivor, showed zero ambition vs Maccrinelli. Enzo was pretty poor that night, looked very 2 dimensional struggling to find a way to get to Abdoul.
So its interesting in that respect, but the result of the fight is a forgone conclusion I'm afraid - just how will Haye wins, quick stoppage, late stoppage or points.

Saw him against Maccarinelli, where he basically did nothing. Really, really defensive, hiding behind his gloves all night. Enzo didn't have the guile to open him up. Can Haye manage it with his greater speed and more fluid angles of attack? Maybe. If not, Haye will get some rounds in. Not sure how much benefit they'll be, because they'll be done at his own pace, I suspect.

what do you think Haye's motives in this one are? I guess the guy has only been stoped once so he may be looking at rounds or alternatively just wanting to do a better job than enzo so as to call him out.

Haye's motives
Mark Time - pay day.... nothing else.
Sky are going to want him to fight as often as possible, as they did with Hatton... He is (IMO) being build up as a next PPV star.
Simple exercise to keep him with the public eye. Its a no lose fight really for Haye (unless he does struggle or lose). If it goes quick he can say about the Abdoul fight vs Enzo Mac. If it goes long he can say "he wanted to do the rounds".
At the moment, he doesn't seem to be able to secure a big fight - so this is a mark time one.

I suspect the reasoning behind this fight is that he's going to cost very little to bring over, and he can be sold on the fact that he's been over here before.. I suppose it could be dressed up as Haye getting some rounds in, but the fact is, for a man who supposedly only has a few fights left at cruiserweight, it's a very poor matchup.

Good to see someone is finaly working on selling haye properly my housemate isn't realy into boxing but loves him cos of his power I suspect many others would be the same, shame he aint doing more terrestrial stuff, thats what sky should realy do to build up pay per view stars.

Complete waste of time this one...he kills him self to make weight..rumours have it that he walks around 16 stone +
Dont see the point in killing him self to make weight just for a marking time fight..if i remember rightly this kid is short and squat and really held a good shot ( Enzo flushed him a few times ) and he knew how to survive..if they are trying to sell Haye this doesnt seem like a good match to me...

No wonder he struggles to make weight judging by his BN interview. What do you hate about Boxing? Training. What do you do in between fights? Shag.

Shocking....really feel Haye is just all talk...He controls Booth and does exactly what he wants...he just look so lethargic....you would think that if he has any ambitions of conquring the Heavyweights then he should be able to put away this guy

Well by being lethargic and doing feck all he's gonna fit in perfect in the heavy ranks, that's for sure.
In fact you could say he's looking the part.
If he's moving on up, Hide would make sense, short + sweet and a good win if DH keeps his chin safe.
Trouble is, I can't recall a lightheavy/ cruiser puncher taking his power up with him - even The Great Bob Foster, who knocked em cold at 175, was surpised to find himself holding a pea shooter at 2OO+ ( oh shit )

I seem to recall that Foster wobbled Frazier momentarily with the kind of shot that had destroyed the 175 lbers, but Frazier responded in kind and absolutely tore him a new arsehole.
Holyfield carried his power fairly well, he wasn't the destroyer he was at cruiser, but he hit hard enough to get the respect of the big boys, and late in his career actually seemed to hit harder.

Yes I thought I might've heard he hurt Frazier before getting steam rollered, but when I watched it on vid, I can't say I noticed. Think I read Bob say how shocked he was when he landed flush on Joe + he kept on comming.
Holyfield was a one in a million, and didn't have to rely on a big punch as he had everything else. But if Haye doesn't have that power...he's going to be left standing with his pecker in his hand, and not much else.
