WBO featherweight title...what now

first and foremost i think Harrison should be stripped of his title , im not biased as im actually scottish but his behaviour recently has been terrible and pulling out of a fight 5 days before it really leave the WBO with no option other than to strip him.

so what now if Harrison gets stripped??? well the no1 and no2 contenders are untested Jorge Linares 20-0 12kos from venezuela and terdsak jandaeng 24-1 15 kos from thailand whos only defeat was agint joan guzman.

and what of gary st clair??? he is rated at 14 with the WBO does he deserve the chance to fight for the vacant title? or will he get the oppertunity to fight the winner??

if harrison gets over his problems i think it will be a tough journey to get back a world title as i cant see warren bankrolling a title bid especially if the title goes to either venezuela or thailand , could you imagine warren paying over the odds to get one of the above mentioned men to come to the UK to fight with harrison??..i cant either.

today in scotland the papers have harriosn as the victim...bullshit he is a ned with the "do you know who i am" mentallity , his sucess has went to his head and his recent run - ins with the law are no coincidence.

scott i hope u get sorted with the help you need but i dont think you will be champ again.

He should be stripped, he pulled out of the Guzman fight twice now this.

Proberbly should be striped, I think he seems to have enough support in scotland to make it worth warren (or some other promoters) while to sort him out with another shot.

I would personaly like to see the titile go to venezuala imagin Harrison fighting away from home in south america, that would show him pressure    'oo ah chavez no se va'

Can Guzman still make 126? I'm sure GBP could get him a shot at the vacant title if Harrison is stripped.

I'm not a huge Harrison fan but think the guy should get a chance, after all we're talking about a human being here, if he has problems give him a chance to sort them out as it seems that he now wants to do... don't kick a man when he's down...

A chance yes, but he pulled out of the Guzman fight 2 or 3 times and now this one thats 3 or 4 chances in my book. Harrison should be stripped with a crack at the new champion when he has sorted his life out.

its been reported up in scotland that harrison is on a minimum of 250k a fight , thats his contract with sports network

The thing is the world don't work like that, particularly if you think about boxing, we can't have one rule for one and another for everyone else or all we will see is popular fighters getting dispencation willy nilly.

What was the deadline for his mandatory? If he cannot make it, he should be stripped. It's not like it's a physical injury after all. I'm not saying that I have no sympathy, but there are other people who would like a crack at that title, and therefore they should be able to do so. Scott can be installed as #1 contender, and the belt fought for.

Of course Maloney is going to pull out all the stops to protect his fighter, but the WBO must be losing patience in lost sanctioning fees.

Well I tend to have more sympathy for the boxer rather than the WBO losing out on some sanctioning fee's... I'm sure they won't starve yet... Harrison has bee quite active as champion, why not give him a couple of months to get himself together... theres planty of title holders that are more inactive and have not been stripped...

It was only once he pulled out then Guzman ran. :-?

Might sound like a silly question (and one I am sure I will get some interesting replies for).

But how much is Scott Harrison actually worth to allegedly... Going on past ticket sales he cannot sell for toffee outside of the Braehead (unlike Hatton) and he wasn't even considered an ITV 1 fighter without Khan on the bill.

Is he really worth the sanctioning fee's/pay day and all the cost involve - if he can only sell in one venue and his lack of charisma means he probably will not gain a huge fanbase.

The fact that he is a world champion is probably key Stu, what with all the prestige (even though its wbo) that it brings to the SN stable and also to the ITV table - It will be interesting to see what happens if he is stripped.

I used to be a big fan of Harrison, he was awesome in his win over Chacon and again looked impressive in his win over McCullough, but in my view he has never looked as good since the Medina defeat.

Its a shame whats happened to him, but he has to help himself before anyone else can.

No way, the fight was rescheduled at least twice due to Harrison. The third time was when Guzman withdrew.

It was only once when Harrison was having dental surgery. :-?

The Second one was Guzman.

The fight was postponed twice, the first one Harrison was injured or ill, then the second one the dental problems, then Guzman pulled out of this Saturdays date. Now Harrison has pulled out again!

If I remember correctly, it was due for Feb and put back to March the first time, then the second cancellation put back to this Saturday coming.

Cant remember what the first pullout was for but it was put back from Feb to March before the 'dental problems'.

Yes, I know there is that angle and with Warren with only 2 (not sure on Johnny Nelson's promotional status) world champions at the moment - I am sure it was a huge factor in getting the ITV deal - but that is now done and signed and ITV don't obviously think much of Harrison's popularity or his fight with Hussein would have been on ITV 1.

Hmm....

Get it right!

The fight was suppose to first happen in Jan. WBO gave Harrison 3 months(120days) after he beat NEdal to face Guzman. Harrison(found a way to) postpond.

Then it was Feb. 25. Harrison postponed.

Then it was March 25. Harrison postponed.

It was on the 4th date that Guzman and his team pulled out to get TV time and fight in the ODLH PPV.

Good thing Guzman pulled out too else he would have been S.O.L.

Well...

NVM it's only 3 times the date was moved because the first one doesn't count (the fight was mandated in 3 months but because it was set between the teams, it doesn't count)

He couldn't even make 130 last time out.

True but he didn't really have to. For a championship fight I am sure he could remove the weight.

Didn't Guzman have to give Jauregui $6000 of his purse for coming in overweight? I'm sure i read that somewhere.

It's bizarre considering that he was a super bantam and can't even be bothered to make super feather, championship fight or not. And with it being his first fight with Goldenboy you would have thought he would have made it.

Guzman came in as a welterweight for the fight. 148lbs.

Well there is no denying he made the right choice going with GBP and pulling out of this fight, or he'd have been the victim of yet another pullout with all this thats blown up. Harrison clearly did not fancy the Guzman fight for one reason or another and I think he'd have been beaten.

Guzman may campaign at 130 now but I am sure he could make 126 for the right opportunity and with the right people on board in camp.
