What ever happen to that guy? He fell off quick eh? He is the same guy who destroyed Shannon Briggs, Went to war with Courage Tshabalala and KOed him too, gave Izon a good go, and beat some other undefeated heavies. Then he just started to suck.

When I saw Wilson beat Briggs I though he looked great. He had a good defense, got out of the the way of Briggs' early combos, and was a great counter puncher. In the Courage fight Wilson showed the heart of HOlyfield or dare I say it Gatti and Ward. HE rose from the canvas twice against a very big puncher and again used his great counter punching skills to KO Tshabalala. Wilson racked up a few more wins and then started loosing to guys I thought he would have beaten.

Terrence Lewis, Zuri Lawrence, Frankie Swindle, and a fat old Tim WItherspoon blew him out like he was nothing! Wilson didn't have much of a chin so his KO losses to Tua, Izon and Lewis are forgivable. But I though he had enough boxing skills to outbox Lewis with his counters. Lewis has a bad chin too, and Wilson had beaten that type of heavy hitting week chinned fighter before a couple of times. Atleast he dropped Izon before he lost to him.

BUt how did he loose to Zuri Lawrence, Frankie Swindle and Witherspoon? any one see these fights? He showed such heart before, did he loose that fighting heart? HE is a hard guy to discourage. HE was used goods when he fought spoon but I expected more none the less. ANy opinions or insight? 8)

frank swindell was on a bit of a renassaince at the time. he KOd british wayne llewelyn, james stanton, josh imardiyi and probably was on a high.

he IS tough and durable and packs decent power with all that weight behind him. wilson was probably in the losing state of mind by then.

terrible tim put that overhand right on darrol in the 1st and you knew it was a short night. he held onto timmy like his life depended on it.

he was one of those guys who could have been better where he managed a little more carefully. sort of like jeff wooden i suppose.

I think you are right, Darroll probably lost his fighting heart some time after the loss to Izon. That was the straw that broke the camel's back for Wilson. Izon had lost to Michael Grant that same month WIlson lost to Terrence Lewis. Both by 5th round KO, both stoppages were protested by the losers. They both had pretty much the same record at the time and it was a good match up for the two to fight. The winner was back in the mix and the loser was close to the end.

Well Darroll dropped Izon early, but was stopped again. Izon went on to win against Terrence Lewis and Derrick Jefferson and was back in the top ten. Wilson predictably faded away. Atleast he made it to HBO a few times and made some good money....Jeff Wooden didn't make it quite that far did he?

I seen Jeff fight before, a pestque southpaw who could give ya trouble. He was a decent fighter. I saw him beat Melvin Foster on TV. He broke Melvin's jaw. Wooden was alright.

How much did WIlson weigh for the Witherspoon fight, do you know?

P.S. I know WItherspoon is your man, who is he fighting next?

yes frank swindell is 5'10'' and used to be a LHW but now weighs around 240 and looks BIG

jeff wooden: lost SD to michael grant. lost SD david tua. a point or more v byrd he'd have got a draw. he always SO close to being a contender.
