But who has he ever beaten to deserve a shot.
Ive been directed to an article on a site called seconds out which says he beat a tough yank in Boston. They guy was crap and Hatton should have lost.
Muttley would beat him and Ross Minter would hammer him.
BTW all seconds out site talks about is the hattons and roman greenberg.
Whay these fighters and not real top boys and why hardly any images on its front page.
crap site.

My Lord the British welterweight title is a sought after prize nowadays. Its under such high demand!! I seriously think that it is fast becoming a more coveted prize than the wold heavyweight title!

I don't think it would be the crime of the century if Matthew got a British title shot. I suppose Taz Jones, Rob Burton and Francis Jones are not bad "Area" level scalps - especially Jones who is knocking on the door of a top ten place having been unlucky vs McNeil and Docherty.
I don't think he'd win, but I think the criticism he has is quite justified - he'll never be a world champion, but he is a good domestic level fighter - who tries his heart out. I do think he has deteriorated in his last two/three outings.
Yes, he is not as good as his Brother - but he is a seperate fighter and shouldn't be treated the same. Any other 25 year old with his record, and he wouldn't be recieving much criticism.
As for the site, naturally they are going to be pro Matthew Hatton - it is owned/run by their promoters.

I see I didnt know the site was run by his promoter. It doesnt mention in anywhere. Its got a tv station on it, but all the fights are shit. Its looks a bit bare the site

If he has promoter who will challenge for it and he has a champion who will defend it against him . and he wins it . Then he's good enough Simple really

Francis boxed Matthew at the MEN in front of two men and a dog (I was one of the men) at about 6.30 on a Ricky undercard. It was accurately scored as a draw and Francis was pretty much a novice then.
Francis bit off a bit more than he could chew and boxed Ali Nuumbembe who worked him over. The morning after this, Francis got a call offering him a rematch with Matthew six days later. Jones accepted - I told him not to, he was fecked - and predictably enough got stopped as he was totally depleted.
He's still boiling about it and must be the only man in Britain who wants to fight Matthew Hatton. Hatton is improving and I don't think it would be the daftest thing if he got a shot - but he's not up to much IMO.

For what it's worth, I just realized the Jose Medina he fought isn't the tough journeyman that I assumed he had beaten. Jose "El Macho" Medina (
http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=098445) is a rugged guy who gave good fights to Nurhan Suleymanoglu and several other decent fighters. I wonder if others made the same mistake when labelling his opponent as a "tough" guy.
