I would like to know how the great Dick Tiger would fare against the middleweight fighters from the 1970s Monzon, Briscoe, Valdez, Denny Moyer, Jean Claude Bouttier, Tony Mundine, Gratien Tonna, Tom Bogs, Tony Licata, Bobby "Boogaloo" Watts, Eugene "Cyclone" Hart, Willie "The Worm" Monroe, and Sugar Ray Seales? What do you think?

I think he would have been just as successful in the 70s as he was in the 60s. Physically, Tiger was one of the strongest middleweight champions to ever lace up the gloves.

Tiger would beat them all apart from maybe Monzon.

Tiger vs Briscoe would have been a war.

I believe he would settle in as the number 2 man in that age. He's not going to get the better of Monzon IMHO. But I dont' see anyone else in that landscape that beats him 2 out of 3. Although a Briscoe fight would leave them both worse for the wear. Bit on the brutal side that one would be.

I think a prime Rodrigo Valdez beats a prime Tiger as well. Bigger punch, better chin.

Yeah I think Tiger would be the man after Monzon. When matched against the other top flight middles of that period its tough to picture him getting beat. I suppose that maybe Cyclone Hart could possibly nail him with a lefthook , like Bob Foster did but Tiger would probably outwork and beat Hart on the inside. So I guess Hart would have a punchers chance but thats it . The Cyclone could be kod also. Bobby Watts was pretty slick and Tiger had trouble with smooth boxers like Joey Archer but in the long run , Tiger would find a way to beat Watts also . He was so strong.

tiger would do very well. outside of monzon, i see him beating everyone. u dont get much stronger than dick tiger p4p

Valdez versus Tiger... That would be a battle for the ages. I would slightly favour Valdez.

Monzon would still beat them both.

Myself? Because he wasn't mentioned in the fighters listed by Kovit.

I don't consider Marvin a force until close to the 80's. Losing to Hart, Watts and a lackluster with Henry, Marvin was still honing his craft. Not that he wouldnt have been very very competitive, I just think he was moving toward his prime in the 70's rather than experiencing it.

Actually Hagler lost to Monroe not Hart. Hart fought Hagler once and he quit. Monroe was the second fighter after Watts to beat Hagler before losing the next two to the Marvelous One.

kovit your right, for some reason I always think of monroe and hart at the same time and just got them confused. Monroe more the boxer and Hart the slugger....Just my age showing.....

If a young Hagler was troubled by Antuofermo then Tiger would beat him pretty clearly in the 70s... he'd just be too strong. I think Tiger has to be one of the most underrated fighters... remember he was Lightheavy champion as well and was able to mix it with the top men till just a little before his tragic death...

Vito gave Hagler a lot of trouble in their first fight, which was a draw... Tiger was a much better fighter than Antuofermo and much more durable...

he did trouble hagler, who didn't appreiate being crowded and might;ve been surprised at the shots Ant could soak up. but i still think marvin deserved to win. there was an alarming period in the fight where hagler seemed to go quiet, but i felt he started sharply enough and closed strong enough to win by a couple or 3 rounds.

I want to ask you what happened if Dick Tiger fight Vito Antuofermo at their prime would Tiger stop Antuofermo on cuts, KO, TKO, or decision?

Tiger would probably stop Vito on cuts... Tiger would just be too much for Vito... Tiger beat the likes of Fullmer, Giardello and Ruben Carter so I really don't think Vito would have troubled him that much. The hardest fights for Tiger in the 70s would have been Monzon, Valdez and Briscoe... and I could see Tiger beating all of them really save for Monzon who I think would have had a bit too much but that would still be a tremendously close fight.

Hugo Corro. I think he was better than most people think, but not in Tiger’s league. I’d go with Tiger by a pretty wide UD.

I always think terry Downes when Dick Tiger is mentioned His qoute after Tiger stopped him at Shoreditch When asked by the press whom He would like to fight next . His reply was the matchmaker who made this fight classic.

I think Sugar would be better off taking that day off. Maybe call in sick or something.
