Remember heavyweight Jack O'Halloran from the 60's and early 70's. He was a hulking 6'6" heavyweight with a pro record of 34-21-2 (17). He faced George Foreman, Ken Norton and had wins over Cleveland Williams and Manuel Ramos. He faced a slough of contenders as well and went on to acting in TV and film. You probably remember him as Non, the mute super villian from Superman II among many other roles. He was kind of like a Tex Cobb before Tex Cobb.

His father Albert was a mob figure if my memory serves.

Ain't that the truth!!! I had forgot that O'Halloran was also in Superman. I cannot recall seeing him in any movies since Dragnet. I wonder if he just gave up the acting biz, or what?

I think the old lady in Dragnet described him as "big bad and stupid lookin".

I looked in IMDB and he didn't do much after Dragnet. Mostly TV spots and a part in the Flintstones movie. Too bad, he was a pretty good character actor.

yeah, he managed and trained Liles to the title in 1994

I once knew a bill collector who tried to collect a debt from O'Halloran. Don't know if he ever did or not. Does anyone know what O'Halloran is up to these days?

in 1971 he had knocked out Terry Daniels and beat Cleveland Williams and was supposed to fight Joe Frazier for the title. I guess Fraziers camp wanted someone a little easier and they went with Terry Daniels whom Jack had knocked out. Jack went on to fight Ron Lyle and got stopped and 2 months later Terry Daniels fought for the world title and go clobbered by Frazier. There were a few bouts between O'Halloran and Ali that fell threw also.

First footage I've ever seen of O'Halloran.

Frankly he looks much better than I thought he would . . pretty quick, puts his punches together fairly well and boy was he BIG . . .I can't recall George ever looking that compartively small in his first or second career. Jack's body frame was just massive.

actiona against Foreman.

He was also in King Kong and in a French Foreign legion film with Gene Hackman.

O'Halloran was good -not great- but a solid heavyweight at a time of very good heavyweights. If he was active today he would definitely be ranked among the top crust of the division.

He retired Rahman Ali (Rudy Clay)with a spectacular KO.

When he trained at the Fifth Street Gym in Miami he had a reputation as a likable character.

I had heard this film existed.
It looks like bootleg footage that was packaged and marketed to fight film collectors
in the 1970's for 8mm or 16 mm projectors(like the Liston-Wepner footage)
Foreman actually looks intimidated in the first 2 rounds.
and real happy he won too.

I think the Ken Norton-Jack O'Halloran fight was a nominee for fight of the year.
I wonder if it was filmed?

I don't get how a guy who reportedly had an epic war with Norton, knocked out Daniels and Ramos, decisioned (an old) Williams and Clark; then loses to the likes of Charlie Harris, Johnny Griffin, and KO'd by Jack Bodell . .

Maybe it was all those roundhouse rights that Foreman delivered to O'Hallaran's back/kidney's in this fight.

The one movie of his to watch is
FAREWELL MY LOVELY(1975)starring Robert Mitchum as Phillip Marlowe.
That was areal good movie with real period feeling of the 1940's.

In 1973 there were plans for him to fight Muhammad Ali but he was knocked out by Jimmy Summerville.

boxrec lists him as 6 feet 6 inches tall,but wickepedia lists him at 6 foot 8 inches tall.
He looks the latter.

He kind of reminds me of a cross between Abe Simon and Gerry Cooney.
