WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev and challenger Owen Beck staged a public workout today in advance of their collision Saturday night at the TUI Arena in Hannover, Germany. Valuev worked the mits with trainer Manuel Gabrielian while Beck did the same with James Johnson.
88 pounds lighter and nearly eight inches shorter than the seven-foot champion, Beck is optimistic about his chances. "Naturally I want to take the belt back to America, and I believe that I'll do it," stated Beck. "I've not worried about Valuev's size, although it is impressive. I thought at first 'there's a basketball player coming.' However, this will be the fight of my life on Saturday."
The Russian giant stated "I have the belt and I will defend it. I've had good training and feel healthy and fit. I will not say my tactics against Owen Beck -- that you'll see in the ring."
On Saturday, recording artist Ronan Keating will perform his hit "Iris" during Valuev's ringwalk. Michael Buffer will be brought in to do the ring introductions.
Can anyone think of any more unusual music artist entrances ? I remember rapper Mystikal doing Cliiford Ettienne's entrance for Mike Tyson fight. 'Danger' indeed.

Dont mean to be picky but 'iris' is a goo goo dolls song so it should read ronan (cover band) keatings version of the hit goo goo dolls song 'iris'.
Its a pet hate of mine

I agree, however I would pay any PPV to see Keating vs Valuev.

It seems normal to hate boyband members, but I don't know much about Keating.
Why is he such a prick?

Thus the switch over to doing cover songs for the last few years.

He actually believes he is talented. I saw him on some show once with Keith Allen, and Allen took a severe dislike to Keating. He told Keating
"With all due respect, you're not famous for your singing voice, you're famous because you look the part in the lineup of a boy band, in 20 years time nobody is going to remember your voice."
Keating wouldn't have it, and kept trying to insist that he people were always commenting on what a great voice he had, I guess he must have been referring to his family.
Boyzone represent everything that's wrong with the music industry. Ronan keating is the fly resting on the pile of cack.

Ronan Keating cannot sing a lick, he has to feign this stupid whiny nasal twang to stay in tune. I could sing that prick off the stage.

Keating has been doing cover versions since Louis Walsh raided the archives for old songs from the 70s and 80s for Boyzone to piss all over.
He is just a glorified karaoke singer.

WestLife are ever worse. They are an imitation of a bunch of imitators
They are the second coming of Boyzone, infact Ronan Keating helped create them and he was originally their manager.
They sing even more cover versions than Boyzone!
The British pop music scene makes me want to puke.

I saw that TV program as well it was a classic piece of TV.
Wasn't Jo Wiley the host? I also remember Keith Allen saying something along the lines of "You perform pretty pop song for kids and housewifes, but lets face it you music doesn't actually
mean anything" (or words to that effect). Keating was NOT impressed.

I don't remember that episode, but I do remember the show - wasn't it led by Jo Whiley and it was 4 musicians (or famous music fans) discussing songs and events in the world of music? Late night Channel 4?
If it is, there was a classic episode when Emma Bunton, then still semi in the Spice Girls, got absolutely slated by all the guest for just not having an opinion and liking every act.

Archie Eversole did the entrance for Forrest in the first Mayorga fight...and Vernon proceeded to prove the song "We Ready" wrong, as he went to the deck twice in 3 rounds.
