You still need some time to prepare yourself for a southpaw. 5 weeks is a bit short.

Last time Briggs fought a southpaw, almost 2 years ago, he won in impressive fashion.

Joe's way or the highway. He makes a stink about going to 175, until he gets a guy who is made for 175, then askes to come to 168. Johnson spanned over multiple weights, so of course Joe would go up to 175 seeing as Glen was once as low as MW. Joe has been 165 to 170 his entire career, and won't fight a bigger man at a bigger weight. Isn't Johnson at 170 as well?

thats why calzaghe johnson is stumbling isnt it? over weight? pergaps warren is afraid calzaghe will faulter at the extra 7lbs in short notice like hatton did.

For the record: I fight Vladimir Klitschko and Nikolay Valuev simultaneously if each comes down to, say, 180.

Calzaghes pre fight promotion interviews are something like this.

imo Briggs could quite possibly knock Calzaghe out at 175. Briggs and Woods are the worst fights out there for him. I would hate to see Briggs get completely screwed by Calzaghe and Warren. That's why i'm glad he didn't take it.

i'd love to see that fight happen. i think it will one day. if calzaghe-johnson doesn't happen, i think woods-johnson III would be very welcome and very likely. if woods can win - & i think he has a very good chance - it will really make him on the world stage

If Woods got in with Johnson and won, I don't think he gets much past there. I can't really see him beating Johnson, especially after he chose DeLisle over Glen for their last fight, and even if he does, he won't do anything against Adamek, Erdei, Briggs or Tarver.

so, it's soon going to be announced who Calzaghe's foe is, someone US based. then, it's 'expected that Glen Johnson will be the foe'. now, it's 'almost certain that Glen Johnson will be the foe, they're just waiting for him to sign the contract'. & SN are on the phone to Paul Briggs yesterday! i'm soon going to lose interest, why is there so much pissing about over who the next opponent is? are Calzaghe's hands so messed up that they have to bugger potential foes about? do they even really want Johnson, who might not have the ideal time to get ready but has fought southpaws in his last 4 fights?

1. You mistook Kessler for Beyer, whom Calzaghe did offer a joke purse to that Markus wouldn't even take for a gimme fight.

2. You know some inside info none of us do because Kess is the one name Calzaghe has managed to avoid calling out over the past 3 months.
