Ian Milarvie 's worldwide promoter Barry Hearn is in talks in America to get Milarvie a guaranteed 10 fights in the U.S. over the next 2 years.

Stan Hoffman will look after him in America and he will be training in the Catskills mountain camp, he has already been sparing with contender Monte Barrett.

I don't know much about Milarvie, but his manager Tommy Gilmour must have high hopes for him , apparently he's payrolling this at the moment.

Hope the guy does ok, but Scotland doesn't have a great history with heavyweights

Saw Millarvie box once and wasnt overly impressed. He had the size and reach but does he has the athletic ability? I am not sure.

Stan Hoffman knows the game inside out so should look after him well. Who knows what hard training, determination, good sparring and astute match making may bring?

Few would have said McBride would ever fight for a real world title, but now it looks likely that he will.

ive met milarvie a couple of times and hes a nice guy.never seen him box though. scotland doesnt have much history with heavyweights cos there are not that many big guys in scotland.obviously theres not too much competition for heavyweights in scotland. its a good idea to send him to america where the sparring and competition will be far better than in scotland.it ll make him or break him.but in the long run its better this than to get 25 easy wins in britain only to be destroyed when he steps up in class

He's been shown on Sky Sports once; he looked raw and limited, but against that, he is just a baby and can only get better. Good luck to the lad, the experience in the States can only improve him

US exposure and training will surely be good for him.

Millarvie chipped his ankle while jogging, so no fight this weekend.

I heard he was chasing after his doughnut that he dropped. Ok, only kidding, he is a nice big guy by all accounts. I've saw him a couple of times, he has a bit skill but lacks in the power department in my opinion. If gilmour is really paying for Ian to go to America he must have had a sharp blow to the dome, cause he's as tight as a ducks hoop. Good luck to Ian.

What a lot of utter nonsense. The Rugby team is full of "big guys" as are the police and some of the farmers down the borders, some of the football players are a good size, I regularly boxed against "big guys" myself when I was younger and Im no little thing myself... There are "big guys" in every walk of life.

For some strange reason we have always lacked a good heavywieght- it certainly isnt down to the fact "there arent many big guys in Scotland"

The whole "size thing" about scots/celts is total nonsense, trust me there is some huge mother feckers up here. I don't know why some of these guys stay away from the sporting scene? But I could take you into some pubs in glasgow, trust me there are riggers and builders etc that look as if they could K.O. a grizzly bear, and I don't mean one or two there are loads of the big buggers, I'm 6ft 2 and 16st and feel dwarfed in some places. It's not just wee neddy diddies that are 5ft 3 guys with shellsuits, although there are plenty of them as well
