as WW has no belts, no big scalp (from the Taylor fight), & probably isn't rated p4p #1 anymore, will a Calzaghe fight be more likely?

I mean, the draw doesn't hurt his standing, but as he lacks the win, he's less likely to be able to call the shots. Will he be easier to deal with? Warren talks of Calzaghe in a masive fight next. WW is known over here for his trio of WBO defenses. There's a nice backstory, with WW wanting revenge for Lacy , etc...

Wright is the most boring fighter in the world...especially the way he holds his huge gloves on the side of his head and just waits for the other guy to make a move.

i had winky winning last night.

wright would certainly be super fight material for calzaghe. he was a big light middle and looked fine at middleweight.

Winky won't take on anyone anymore that he doesn't get the lion's share for fighting. He bitched about this fight not being 50/50 eventhough Jermain had more to lose, because he was the champ. He just needs to go away.

Agreed, he's too obsessed with money....not that that's a bad thing, but ffs he was even wearing a suit for his ringwalk last night, refused to pay sanctioning fees, he's all about business. He wouldn't stand a chance against Joe anyhow.

I cannot see Winky going up to Super Middle after last night.... I thought he won, but Taylor was definately the stronger man when he chose to fight.

I think Winky might have said no to a rematch cause he is thinking that DLH is looking for an opponent.

Winky's fought over here before. But seems to be a big head now, who has to have his own way

Right - if everyone boxed like him, no one would watch boxing. And to be clear his only two notable victories are over a comebacking Trinidad (styles here) and Mosley (former lightweight who had only won one of his last 4).

He also got put on the canvas 5 times by Vasquez.

He is a good but notgreat fighter.

Winky's not in a position to dictate terms. Calzaghe would be a strong possibility, I believe. Easier to get an opponent after he's failed to win his last big one; that's how Calzaghe v Brewer, Mitchell were made.

I'm a fan of Winky's, would definatly have him in the top 10 boxers of today, not No.1 though.

Personally I wouldn't want to see Joe v Winky as i don't think their styles would mix well, both being southpaws and like to counterpunch.
Wright is best when he has a come foward boxer in front of him, shows his best form then, although he did throw the fight away against Taylor on Saturday by not doing enough in the last round.

I'd love this fight to happen he's a big name and if he came after Joe all of Calzaghe's birthdays would come at once. I know he takes alot on the gloves but Calzaghe is a step up again from Taylor both in size and quality.

I can see why SN would be keen on this match. Calzaghe would be far too strong for WW.

Wright knows a lot more than Lacy but the only thing he’ll be able to do in there is try and survive.

Calzaghe isn't better than Taylor that is a biased statment, Taylor has beaten and drew with 2 top P4P fighters in his last 3 fights who has Calzaghe beat.

Ben Taylor struggled with both of them and Calzaghe is far more experianced than Taylor.

Who did FLoyd beat to be p4p no 1?

Id like to see Joe beat Winky's ass.

wright is STILL probably the best single fight for calzaghe right now...at least in terms of enhancing his legacy & assuring him a spot in international HOF!!

always nice to catch some non-british sentiment on the brit forum & i would have to agree with that particular take!! calzaghe MAY be better than taylor or wright but we cannot REALLY KNOW until he's faced either of them, or someone on their level (and b-hop is retired!!)...

sure winky is boring...but the vasquez loss was 12 years ago!! winky is a TOTALLY different fighter than he was then...much better!!

i guarantee if calzaghe beat him NOW as clearly as vasquez did BACK THEN, that win WOULD MAKE HIM A LOCK FOR THE HOF!!!

I think he would beat Taylor pretty clearly.

He took advantage of Hopkins non workrate in the early rounds to win and in the later rounds Hop showed he was better skillwise.

I'd like to see Calzaghe fight Taylor, think it would be a good fight. Despite being a middleweight, at SM, i think Taylor might pose some interesting physical challenges. He certainly packs a whack, and he is quick too. I think Taylor's time at MW is limited, he's a very big unit and going to fill out even more in the next two years.

I reckon this would be a fantastic fight for TV too, and the networks would surely be interested, it's the fight I'd most like to see right now.

I seem to remember most of Winky's knockdowns against Vasquez (all but the last one) were in fact slips counted as knockdowns by a biased French referee on a slippery canvas.

Taylor would certainly be a differcult fight for Joe, if this fight went ahead i could see Taylor's managment trying for a catchweight fight , round the 165lb limit, trying to weaken Joe a bit in making that.
