The worst fight I ever saw was the immortal Carlos DeLeon v Johnny Nelson 'fight'.

boxing has suffered a 'mortal' wound in the last 20-25 years, with lots of un-interesting stinkers, but it's people like Gastineau whom shouldn't be fighting never mind 'worthy' to be called a fighter (an insult to true fighters) that are a huge part of the problem!

Ali verses Alfredo Evangalista was pretty bad. Ali was clearly past it at that point, I remember him walking around and making faces, might have used that clowning act to cover up the fact he didn't have it anymore.

Eddie Mustapha Muhamed and Renaldo Snipes was about as interesting as an episode of Survivor. Puts me in mind of the story about Willie Pep winning a round without throwing a punch, well Snipes was able to top that as he was able to win this fight without landing a punch.

In terms of "no skill" whatsoever, the Ali vs Wepner bout, was the most one-sided affair outside of Tex Cobb vs Larry Holmes---a true slaughter match in both cases.

As far as dullness goes...I'd say the Ali-Bugner fights were awful, as well as pointed out before, Ali vs Evangelista. Though myself possibly the absoloute worst Ali fight I ever seen was when he faced Jimmy Young.

And in recent years, I'd prolly say Byrd's fights were awful boring, as well as John Ruiz' but at least Ruiz threw punches than bitch slaps, whenever he stopped holding.

As far as the UFC matches are concerned...worst one, in my opinion, was when Tank Abbott fought Dan The Beast Severn. Tank was coming in as the favorite and for the first 3 mins was full fist punching...then Severn and his graeco-roman bullshit got Abbott down for the rest of the fight, that made me wish I was watching a Ruiz match. lol

Ali-Lyle was televised live by ABC, so I’m not sure what you are referring to with the “producers refused to air it” comment. It was a very boring fight, but Lyle fought a pretty good chess match before getting caught, and was leading by a pretty good margin on the cards when the fight was stopped by the ref.

Ali’s fight with Jimmy Young was even more boring than the Lyle fight. After Zaire, Ali’s opponents all began trying to punch very selectively, and Ali simply waited for these guys to get tired before fighting. All great fighters, but they sure didn’t always produce great fights.

As a fighter Lewis deserves respect, but as a man no I do not like him whatsoever. I also feel that Lewis is vastly overated and in my opinion the most boring heavyweight fighter in history.

As for Calzgahe-Lacy, I disagree as Calzgahe slapped and hit with the laces of his gloves instead of the knuckle part. Joe put nothing behind those punches and just slapped, dragged and poked as Lacy came in, of course Lacy should of at least jabbed and tried to avoid those punches but got caught each time.

Freddie Norwood vs. Juan Manuel Marquez. HBO had the distinct displeasure of airing this stinker. Norwood was the respected featherweight champ while Marquez was this supposed killer puncher with an exciting style. This is one of the only fights where both guys hit the canvas and still manages to bore the hell out of everybody. One of the most boring championship fights I've ever seen live.

Another stinker was Derrick Gainer vs. Kevin Kelley in their rematch. The first fight was a runner up for fight of the year, the second was closer to worst of the decade. Rumor has it that Kelley was in tip top form and ready to go before the fight before someone entered the dressing room and whispered a few words in his ear. A source from inside the camp said after the person left, Kelley looked sullen and "not there" and put on one of the most lethargic and wistful performances of his career.

The boxing world declaired it a clinic - an exhibition of the boxing art at its best.

if that fight was an exhibition of slapping, dragging and poking then I wanna see more poorly thrown punches because it was a hell of a performance in my (and most other sane people's) eyes!

Well the mpst recent boring fight that I can remember would be Williams vs Harrison...

This only springs to mind becuase of the English media playing it up something sccoking, and then it turns out to be a snore-feast.

Most boring boxing matches? Anything with Ruiz, Byrd, McCline, or Bowe in it. Most of Holmes' fights. It would be hard to pick just one. Almost any fight with a guy weighing less than the lightweight limit. Women boxing any time. UFC/MMA crap like watching local thugs beating each other up in a vacant lot.

When I was half sleeping during the Byrd/Williamson fight.Some clown had the nerve to say that Byrd would outjab and BEAT Muhammad Ali in his prime.I fell off my seat laughing so hard.This guy was serious about it.
