Question....

Do you know of any fighters, who were successful at Heavyweight, but then moved down to lighter weights? :-?

The only fighter I know of who did this was "Neon" Leon Spinks, who went from Heavyweight champion, down to cruiserweight, after he failed to make good as a Heavywieght---and failed in the process to become anything at Cruiser.

Wouldn't that be more a negative than a positive to go down in weight? Cus wouldnt that expell your energy? I mean, look at Antonio Tarver, he went up to 210 pounds to be Mason "The Line" Dixon in Rocky 6, then faced over-blown Bernard Hopkins and lost, after he had to lose the bulk.

Roy Jones had a bad performance against Tarver, after he ballooned to Heavyweight against John Ruiz, only to go back to Light Heavyweight.

The success of those fighters, of course, is debatable. Financially, fighters like Vassily Jirov and Al Cole made much more money at heavyweight than at cruiserweight, but they didn't win the big fights.
Greb never fought at heavyweight, Gibbons only late in his career, Rosenbloom ocasionally fought over the 175lbs limit but was a light-heavy thoughout his career except for his final years, Langford and Choysnki never moved down and just who is Ossie Oscano?

I don’t think Ozzie can even tie his own shoes anymore. Why pick on Ozzie? Why not lace em up with someone a bit more appropriate? Like maybe Elton John? :o

Not one of these fighters started as heavyweight. Most were light-heavies who moved up for a shot at the heavy title and moved down again when that failed.

How about Orlin Norris? He was a pretty good HW and then moved down to CW.

Not world class but Darren Corbett's weight slowly came down throughout his career

although if you saw him as a heavyweight you'd know he didn't need to lose much muscle

..joey maxim didn't move up to heavyweight for a title shoty and then move down. he fought in the heavyweighrt division for over thirty fights..with some success....and then dropped down to light heavy and won the title from freddie mills.
