Just thought I'd make a seperate thread saying how much I enjoyed the Televised coverage of the Maloney show from York Hall. 3, surprising one sided fights and possibly three upsets (not sure if Ali was favoured vs Olusugen).

The South African fellow who beat Power was a relevation, seeing him on the pads before the fight - I was about to make a critical thread on how easy is it for British promoters to make Commonwealth title fights - cause he looked awful.... However, from the first minute it came apparent he could handle himself, and from the 3rd I thought unless the South African dramatically folded - then there was no way Power could win.

One criticsm (no not the stoppage, I thought the corner should have pulled him out at the start of the round) - but the judging, did I hear correct that two of the judges had Power ahead! How on earth was that! I had Munyai in an unassailable lead. Power needed a KO (or some KD's) to win the fight.

I agree with Johnny Nelson in that I don't think Munyai will ever win a world title, but I see him beating Power 10 times out of 10. Just all wrong stylewise for Power.... I just hope Maloney will listen to the vibes Power was giving when asked about a rematch, he said yes - but didn't really convince me that he wanted it (well not immediately anyway).

Nuumbembe vs Olusugen is being discussed elsewhere, enjoyable fight and a star is born in Olusugen.... He could go far, he will trouble many of the world rated Light Welter's. I'm sure Ali will be back, and I still favour him over Anderson.

Also, very pleased and relieved to see the ref who wants to be Lennox Lewis give Dai Davies the win over Siger. Back to the drawing board for Siger.

Did anyone think Spencer Oliver had a few beers before the broadcast, seemed to be struggling with the pronouncations a bit there.

Munyai looked a decent operator and was huge next to power...like 3 weights above....

Yeah, I did hear right- two judges had Power ahead. Absolutely crazy. The other judge who had it 79-74 was closer to the money. I thought it was 80-72 or maybe 79-73.

We have the fornicating cheek to whinge about foreign refs/judges, our own backyard needs sorting out. After poor kelly there was a masive outcry, those two judges need to be suspended or better still sling them out for twelve months, the old adage of being two rounds down before you start is as always true.

Really enjoyed the Power v Munyai fight - excellent stoppage in my opinion. There was no way (I thought before I saw the scorecards!!) that Power could have come back to win that fight, when he landed his big ones on Munyai they seemed to have very little effect and in turn everytime Power took a big one his neck was snapping back (Jim Watt said he was worried about how often this was happening about 10 seconds before the stoppage). Agree that this matchup didn't suite Power at all and he should look at a different route, maybe try and set up a fight with the euro champ who "beat" Kelly.

And agree that something needs to be looked into the judges, no way could you make a case for Power to be ahead at the time of the stoppage.

Bad luck to Ali also, I hope he can comeback with some preparation and get a big fight at welter. You never know, it's not unheard of for fighters to lose one and still get their shot. Olusugen can go far and would actually tip him over Witter

Is Powerany good? I've only seen his Shinny Bayaar fight.

Stopped by a 10 fight novice.

Power looked excellent in his last fight but is perhaps too easy to hit. Good at coming forward and throws some nice combos, lacks power and i've found it tough to like him since he headbutted Dale Robinson so blatantly. Always in exciting fights though.

The 10 fight novice looked like hell for someone like Power. Good movement, long reach and a good jab. Looked massive for a bantamweight and threw good shots from odd angles, he caught Power on the way in far too often and picked his shots well when he had him on the ropes. Power would have finished the fight if the ref had let him but should have been well behind on points.

Power can come again but not against this sort of opposition.

I think Power has found his level. He has struggled against Napa and looked shaken, even though Napa is a pretty light puncher. I kinda felt he would come unstuck at some point. There is a lot to like about him, as the Ward fight shows, but I think that when he steps into world class level he'll struggled.

I agree with Super Sledgy, I thought people were going a little bit overboard on the Issac Ward fight. Issac Ward is tough but limited and I think Power, Robinson and Napa would have looked good vs him.

People saying that Power was even European level should have looked at the ease Damean Kelly (who is world level) handled Ian Napa. It was hard to guage if Power had improved on his own effort vs Napa (a losing one IMO) against Ward, cause it was only (and I mean no disrespect with that) Ward infront of him.

I think Napa will give Power trouble each time that fight, Power might beat Napa more often than he would lose, but he would struggle. Why? Cause thats his level.

Like a poster above, I find it hard to root for Power after his deliberate headbutt on Dale Robinson, that was a nasty loss of temper from him and to be honest I enjoyed seeing him get beat the other night. Not very patriotic of me but there you go... He should have been immediately DQ'd against Robinson.

My thoughts exactly. Ill always want the Brit to win but that headbutt was just wrong. Put me off Power altogether.
