I'm not saying that i want to watch Jade Goody , or any of the other so called celebraties. and agree with you that most of them are a complete waste of space. I just find it amusing that someone so devoid of talent can in this day and age earn a million.

What is so annoying about it, is that the media peddle this mindless bollocks, because it's easy and requires very little effort, aside from generating mountains of PR, which is their speciality anyway.

They then use the argument 'well, it's what people want, we're just giving it to them.'

Well no actually, you are TELLING them what they want. It's long ago been proven by results that if you repeat anything often enough, people are going to buy into it, be it shite pop pap, designer labels, whatever. En masse, people do sadly act like sheep, or at least a large proportion. They do whatever is easiest, like buying snide ralph lauren, getting a flash car on hire purchase.

People are sheep, and I do think the media should have a function above and beyond earning themselves vast amounts of money shovelling shit down the throats of the eager, crap-hungry masses. Even Max Clifford after years of peddling this rubbish came to hate what he had created. Paparazzi, celebrity journalism, it's all filth of the most disgusting order.

The people are not as intrinsically thick , but if you feed them mindless drivel day in day out, they will sink to the lowest common denominator.

Thank god we have the BBC in this country, at least they have a remit to inform as well as 'entertain.' Quite what the entertainment value is in watching some retarded malajusted weirdo sleeping on television at 3 am is quite beyond me. There should be a simple rule of thumb. If the people who you are reading/talking gossip about don't know who you are - it's not really gossip.

Anyway Jade Goody - i worked in an office full of women when that big brother was on so i know more than i would like to about her. It seems she's carved a lucrative niche for women (who i assume don't see themselves as fukwits) paying for magazines and making Jade rich in the process, so they can mock how stupid/fat she is.

I saw a faux classy advert on the tube for a Jade Goody perfume and assumed it was just another joke to be enjoyed by the aforementioned daft tarts. Then i saw a poster of it for sale in a shop window. That seems like a misjudgment to me. Surely you can't switch from getting people to pay to take the piss to having them want to smell like you.

But what do i know.
