In a divison pretty dry and shows hardly signs of life, David Tua could be a genuine force to be reckoned with, but these last few years, managerial problems or not, he has been facing the absoloute worst opponents I have seen.

What's worse is that Tua is to face 40yr old pug Ed "Iron Man" Gutierrez (15-2-1)!!!

This is almost as laughable as Butterbean calling out Joe Bugner and Mitch Blood Green! For a man who not to long ago iced John Ruiz in 19 seconds and who can still hit hard enough to melt a guy, David Tua is on a one way street with a dead end. Hell he gave Rahman a hard time and now Rahman is champ again.

I mean who the hell is Talmage Griffis? Or even Cisse Salif???

This man has so much damn talent and experience, and at 33 he shouldn't be too washed up, to not really lay a hurting on some of the real fighters out there ffs! This is a travesty, someone needs to help this SOB get back into the picture.

Tua needs to improve his boxing skills

David Tua, years ago played second fiddle to Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield!!!
and nowadays, he'll play second fiddle to Hasim Rahman and Wladimir Klitchsko...

It's easy to see that this man will never be remembered as a "great boxer"... NUFF SIAD.

Yeah, and he barely beat both of them. Either he doesn't train anymore, or he simply has nothing left.

All his career, David Tua has been a powerfully built guy with a big punch and a great chin, who just happens to be seriously lacking in boxing ability. On top of that he's often sluggish in the ring, and usually neglects the body attack, which is rather unusual for a short heavyweight. A 6-3 tall amateur with a good jab and decent chin has a good chance of beating him if he stays on the outside.

At first I was going to say that this topic shouldn't be on the "boxers of the Past" forum. However, I guess Tua is pretty much a boxer from the past.

At one time, he was probably as good as anyone fighting now. However, he just gradually got worse and worse. He got fat and start throwing less and less punches. Hard tosay how highly regarded he will be years from now; probably will be pretty much forgotten.

He's got very limited skills and really doesnt seem to have his heart in boxing anymore... if it ever really was, which I doubt as he was I belive forced into boxing rather than ever being really in love with it...
