It's hard for me to say...

Tyson had the most speed of any Heavyweight puncher, which made him possibly the most deadly killing machine in Heavyweight history at one time; but Tyson fought in a very weak era.

Foreman had possibly the hardest punch and greatest brute strength of any Heavyweight champion, but his flaws in defense, endurance/stamina, made him not invincible, as was his mental psyche weak; in his comeback he still had a powerful punch, but brought down his over all kayo percentage almost 11%.

Rocky Marciano's kayo percentage seemed to steadily rise after he won the title, as he had only one decision win in his reign against the best men in the world, while his other decision wins came before, his kayo percentage is higher than Foreman's overall, and he threw punches in bunches, he broke his opponents inside first then went for the kill in his later years.

Who packed the hardest wallop though? Possibly Earnie Shavers, though most of his opposition was grade C fighters, but if he was only a little faster or had better endurance, he could have been champion, and nobody could have went toe to toe with him.

Good logic. You're right about one thing...nobody could stand toe-to-toe with Shavers. Standing toe-to-toe with any body on this list was in jeopardy, some more than others, which makes it interesting to see who people think packed the better punch.

I think when talking about P4P lists of power punchers Wilfredo Gomez deserves a mention.

Jimmy Wilde was also a KO specialist but from what I read and seen his KO's were as much to do with wonderfull timing and technique as opposed to brute strength.

stanley ketchel,he could ko much larger foes with one punch.

I must correct you... The Ring didn't base their lists solely on power, but on speed, accuracy, combinations and other attributes, hence why, for instance, Marvelous Marvin Hagler is above John Mugabi.

Bob Foster gets the nod from me.

I know it was also on who they did KO and on who they couldn't KO. For me in pure power.

Glad to see Bob Foster getting his mentions. I've never seen anyone punch as hard and fast as he did... He literally broke jaws, smashed noses and even cracked skulls.

The 2003 Ring list was pretty weak. They had some fighters that certainly should have been there, but then they had several that shouldn't have been. Personally, I like the list that Herb Goldman put together that appeared in a 1993, or 1994 issue of Boxing Illustrated, which I did have the magazine but got rid of it a few years ago.

I don't know what it was about Gomez but you're right. He seemed to throw "slow" punches but when he connected it was obvious he packed some power. And anyone with his KO record obviously deserves respect in this regard. They talk about heavy hands and Gomez certainly had them for a small man.

I disagree a little bit with some of them. For example in terms of pure power p4p, I would definitely put Edwin Rosario, and Wilfredo Gomez ahead of Duran. Why is Rosario so underrated in terms of punching power p4p? I mean his KO were really brutal and he had one punch KO power that was amazing and still he gets no recognition when it comes to punchers on the p4p list.

Agreed. Rosario hit harder p4p than ALOT of guys on that list.

Moore being double named has to be a typo. I got the list from some website, but I'm pretty sure the actual list that appeared in BI does not have the typo...anyone have that issue to make the correction?

If Duran had the power of Rosario or Gomez he would have killed quite a few people in the ring. He did have pleny of power, but IMO not like Rosario or Gomez.

Duran had one punch knockout power, definitely. I don't think he was quite up there alongside the likes of Rosario and Jenkins, but he wasn't far off at all.
