Glenn had a great career I hope he doesn't sully it with a half ar5ed come back...

At 33 now, I did think Glenn retired a bit young. I don't know what his weight is like - but I never really liked him at Super Middleweight, even though he had his greatest success there.

Could be a useful addition to the buzzing Middleweight devision (both domestically and futher afield).

Mind you thats Barry Jones, Jon Jo Irwin and Mark Potter all saying to papers that they are returning.... I haven't read a comeback date for any of them yet.

Mark Potter was talking about coming back last year, but nothing come of it, he was a good domestic heavy, but he was mauled in his last one against Sprott, never looked in the fight that night. Didn't he suffer an eye injury that night?

He was never quite right after the Thobela controversy.
Surely this comeback's a mistake, even if the SM division's weakened?

A pressure fighter without stamina is a sitting duck for younger, flashier guys to outpoint.

Great bloke though; I wish him the best.

Catley was robbed in the first fight with Danilo Haussler for the EBU title.
wonder if Jamie Sanigar can shed some light on the comeback storey

I expect Jamie should know about Dean Francis' shoulder too...

Always enjoyed watching Catley, never in a dull fight. However he did look like has was on the slide before he packed it in, not sure how much he'll have left after the break.

What were Catley's best fights anyone?

Catley was pretty good against Woodhall. And the last round knockout of Beyer was pretty good. His fight against Neville Brown for the British title was a bit of a war too.

Was his loss to Woodhall really that bad a decision? Suppose it must've been if Woodhall admitted to not getting the better of it.

I thought it was a close fight, Woodhall really wasn't himself that night.

woodhall showed a lot of class that night,only time i"ve seen someone upset at being given a decision.the neville brown fight was intense,glenn fought rough and ripped the title from him.really nice guy too,never heard a bad word said against him.watching dean francis and glenn sparring together was a revelation.

He's not, he hooked up with Tex Woodward.

He was indeed robbed, Haussler never won that decision.

Catley's last round knockout was awesome, especially as it landed on Beyer of all people. Didn't he KO Eric Lucas in the final round as well in similar fashion. Saw Glenn Catley do a funny studio interview for HTV West. Like'd watching Catley fight. OooArrgh.

Catley's chin is very suspect. He's probably only coming back because Sanigar's landed some TV dates.

Catley V dodson for the English crown could be interesting though.

Yes its true Glenn is to make a comeback. Glenn never officially retired but became dissolusioned with boxing with the bad decisions against Haussler especially after all the politics with Woodhall verdict and Thobela.

Glenn has been back in the gym for a few months now training to see how he felt about making a comeback. He has looked good and sharp in training so decided to make a comeback. He has finished work and is in full time training twice a day. The plan is to fight early October in Bristol and then before xmas. Probably another fight in early part of next year and then hopefully if he wins those 3 fights look at title opportunities.

As regards Dean Francis he is no longer managed/trained by Tex Woodward. I believe he is self managed and promoted by Tony Hay. Dean had another shoulder op after in went out against Tommy Eastwood in February. I think this is his third or fourth op and the shoulder has gone on various occassions so it looks bleak. Dean Francis was an exceptional boxer and the best boxer I have ever seen in our gym. The public never got to see the best of him that is a shame for British Boxing.

Francis' shoulder is clearly not up to fighting anymore he really should give it up.
