There is Boxing outside the UK incase you hadn't noticed Mr ITV.

Ha. Wishful thinking. I think ITV boxing is going to be all Warren or nothing. And if and when SN part company with ITV, the latter's boxing coverage will return to 0. No doubt we'll have the 2nd September bill. Khan's fight in full, with 'extended highlights' of M'Baye's fight?

Had a quick look at the ITV's rankings, which are a bit bizarre imo.

edit: I had an argument here, but it was far too boring to publish. Basically, I don't think their A1, not that p4p lists are an exact science anyway.

And the British p4p, no mention of Nelson?

Next is Woods-Johnson III on September 2.

My thoughts exactly. ITV are doing what BBC initially did which is pretending that boxing only exists within the UK and outside is some strange parallel boxing universe where the champs arent called Khan, Woods, Calzaghe etc.

This cheapens the game to me & confuses the public when their only concept of "world title fight boxing" is Takaloo/Magee, Macca/Dominguez etc...

Agreed, what is missing from ITV's coverage is the presentation of the sport as a whole, and that is as a result of

When I was a kid, myself and my mates were massive fans of Hagler, Hearns, Duran, and Leonard, as well of course as Ali, and then Tyson later on. English fighters were something of an afterthought, but the more successful ones like Conteh, McGuigan, Watt etc were all popular, but we all had an understanding of the sport as a whole and who the biggest figures in it were.

When Minter fought Hagler, I was rooting for Hagler, because I knew that Hagler was the absolute nuts....

If ITV only have a contract with one promoter, then no mater how good the coverage is of those fighters, and fights, it's never going to give a good representation of the sport.

On a positive note however, Sky are showing more and more international action.

Woods-Johnson is going to be in the US surely?

Interesting if ITV cover it. I actually submitted myself to the fact that we wouldn't actually get to see it. I really hope they do, but if it is stateside, I don't see ITV devoting time to it if it's just the 1 fight. Maybe a couple of other brits will be on the undercard which could make it more presentable in the eyes of the ITV, but would they be Hobson or Warren though?

Missed that completely, I thought it was definitely going to be the US Class. I almost don't want to wring Fwank's neck. And I have to hand it to him this is becoming an excellent card. And Woods-Johnson should get absolute top priority from ITV

Jennings vs Takaloo.

I thought it was going to be Tak vs Minter and Jennings vs McNeil (that was down in the boxrec schedules for the Bolton card).

Anyway, not complaining - Tak vs Jennings is equally compelling.

It's only been a year since ITV returned to boxing.

I'd give them more time and at least Warren shows are free now instead of being on your Sky pakckages.

The only other promotor who tired was Hennessy and he failed and no other promotors are trying ITV. Hobson ain't going to go to ITV now that he gets Hatton on SKy box Office.

Not sure what the rating were for the Witter/Froch ITV show, but it was one of the better ITV shows IMO.

I enjoyed the fights anyway and have them on tape.

Definitely better fare than the three Danny Williams fights they have had headlining in the last year.

We've no doubt got the third instalment of Williams/Skelton to look forward to as well.

Skelton wining the repeat was perfect for SN.

ITV and their boxing coverage is dire, what with their one promoter support and all that.

Sheeeet those were the good old days... But I think you're right they need to show talent from all voer the world (especially USA). The cynical side makes me think that they don't want joe Public knowing that there are other title holders other than the IBO or whatever the latest merry-go-round is.

If they are serious about Khan then they should be showing at least highlights of some of the top contenders and belt holders in his division. That really stokes up interest and has fans wondering about who he could beat etc... A large proportion of boxing chat is speculation who would win etc...

IS any TV channel showing the European Amateur Boxing Championships?

Warren is simply building Khan up on ITV and when he decides the time i s right will piss off back to sky and whack him on PPV.
