eurosport commentating

Just watched some re-runs of boxing shows on Eurosport, and Bob Mee was co-commentating with Steve Holdsworth,
I thought they worked well together, didn't try and overhype any of the boxers, and said what they thought, even if some of the boxing wasn't great.
Makes a pleasant change from some of the commentating on the major channels, BBc and Sky.

Some people have stated that they think Bob Mee talks too much... I have been very impressed and cannot believe why he hasn't been approached sooner. Having never met the man, I didn't know he had the voice for TV - but he has, and is a fountain of knowledge, mixed with common sense.
The only qualm I have about the relationship is he makes Holdsworth look like a weak link - with his "let's see..... ah yes for the WBC continental americas title - whatever that means".
I wouldn't mind if Mee did the job solely.... Been a real breath of fresh air not hearing a commentator say "Sorry" or "my mistake" or get the names wrong. I have enjoyed each one of Eurosports 2nd commentators in recent weeks, we've had Hart (who apparently got sacked), Woodhall and Kevin Lueshing - all been very enjoyable.

Yes Bob Mee certainly knows his stuff, and he's not always looking for soundbites and trying to talk over the other commentator.

Yes, Bob Mee must be far and away the most knowledgable boxing commentator on TV.

no question even if you've been to or seen a fight on tv you'd still read his report

After years of torturing myself with Holdsworthless´commentary they finally replaced him, when I can no longer receive the british feed.

No he is still there, just got a sidekick - Mee is a good addition though.

No way could they be worse than ITVs long-nosed amateurish shills Rawling & McKenzie.

Not suprised to see Hart sacked , talking about Malik Scott on the Gatti v Baldomir card: 'a heavyweight that can't punch is like a stripper with a flat chest , nobody wants to see them' . Dempsey: 'It's late Colin , but it's not that late' .

Dunno if he has ever boxed (he certainly doesnt look like an ex-boxer) but his knowledge base is fantastic.
He has been empployed variously as a statistician and reporter and is excellent in both roles.
Havent heard him commentary yet - hope to hear him on sats RJJ broadcast.
Holdsworth needs someone to keep him on track - he often wonders from the contest at hand and offers his own 'musings' on life and the game..

I'm sure some of you watched the boxing on Eurosport last night, i thought the commentating was pathetic. There was sevrel awkward moments between the two guys doing it and about 50 mistakes by one of them who couldnt say 1 word with out going 'Ermm arrr br bu ermmm bla'

That says it all and perfectly sums up his ability and knowledge, great comment.

That was remarkably inappropriate, but what can you expect, he works for 'The Sun'. Hardly renowned for their progressive free thinking are they? I was happy with Dempsey's reply, at leat he spoke out instead of uncomfortable laughter, though it would have been better if he'd have said something a little more witty like, 'shut it twat.'
For someone whose been around the game so long he doesn't seem to have much of a breath of knowledge past the best known fighters.
What made me laugh was when he predicted Tyson to KO williams easily and said Tyson could probably beat most of the current heavyweights including Vitali. (Fair enough that's what many people thought at the time).
But a few weeks later after Williams has beat Tyson he's on sky coming out with some bullsh*t about how he'd always said if williams took him a few rounds he had a great chance.

I remember Naz falling out publically with Colin Hart, he wouldn't answer any of his questions and barred him from weigh-in's and also fights I believe.
In my opinion there are a few people on this board who could do a far better job for the Sun than Hart, he really is a pretentious twat who talks shit each time he opens his mouth (allegedley of course).

Every time I see Colin Hart, I can't help but think 'Richie Benould wants his wig back'.
Hart has obviously paid his dues over the decades, let alone years. But I really do wonder if he actually cares about boxing from 1984 onwards.
