Garbage!

Thats the only word that can accurately describe Haye-Abdoul. Bad matchup. Bad performance by Haye. Abdoul was just in for the pay day. Nothing 'championship' about this shit.
Haye won every round. He only landed about 80 punches all night. Just peppered the guy with the jab and landed the odd right hand bomb.josh fg wrote:DIdn't see the fight not having sky what was the fight like? Tell that to Joe Public who shelled out for that supposed 'European Championship fight'. A blatant case of misadvertising. There was no fight and nothing about it was Championship. No one wants to see that crap headline a bill. Haye is paid to provide effort and entertainment. He did neither. He should work on his stamina in the gym. And he has still done nothing to disprove the notion that he's a one Punch bomber with a glass jaw.Hardhitters11 wrote:It was evident from very early on to me that David was by far the better fighter and could have stopped Abdoul if he had made the effort, However Haye needed the round's and got them but apart from confidence he may have got from doing 12 I don't see any real benefit from this fight......
No doubt though that Haye is by far the superior fighter and the one who should go on to World title honours.

The other guy maintained a water tight high guard and threw nothing. Quite clearly he had no intention of winning. The fans left in droves in the last 3rd of the fight. Haye acted like a smug git after it. He's fooling no one. Not once did he apply any sustained pressure or work rate. Abdoul should be banned from a British ring and have his purse with held for 'imitating' a fighter.

Which calls into question it ever being made. However, that aside, no one can tell me Haye couldn't have given more. By his own admission he held back. That tells me that he intentionally ripped the paying public off. Fights like that hurt boxing. The casual fan or someone who thinks 'i'll give this a shot' sees this and thinks 'thats crap.'Hardhitters11 wrote:What was you expecting??WayoftheCass wrote:Tell that to Joe Public who shelled out for that supposed 'European Championship fight'. Anyone who know's about boxing is aware of the type of fighter that Abdoul is and the position Haye is in re: WBC title etc so you couldn't expect a first round KO.....
Can see your point but in all honesty this fight was always going to go this way.
you would have thought with a distiguished ameter carrer as haye has had he would know how to deal with the Peek a Boo defence though.stujones wrote:I thought it was going to this way, cause I thought Haye would be as clueless as Enzo would be in breaking this guys defence. Lets not forget that Abdoul can't punch and has no ambition and we knew this before. It wasn't a dangerous fighter he had in there (like a Thompson) so why not make at least one or two risks. Why not go for it for one round, and then take a breather - he could afford to.
If I had to make an assessment of Enzo and Haye based on this common opponent. I would say Enzo showed more effort and determination, both on a par with ability to break this guy down. I would say though that the fight showed that Haye has superior power - cause Abdoul was in a bigger shell tonight.
It was all just peek. The boo part would have been far too risky.josh fg wrote:you would have thought with a distiguished ameter carrer as haye has had he would know how to deal with the Peek a Boo defence though.stujones wrote:I thought it was going to this way, cause I thought Haye would be as clueless as Enzo would be in breaking this guys defence. Your first paragraph is so accurate - I bet every single forum member could do thirty six minutes on the bag (without even the break) and not collapse... aslong as its at your own pace.jomothepure wrote:I have to take Audley and Danny's boring fight title away and hand it to Haye. This was always going to be a poor predictable fight, yet still they managed to disappoint. Yes he's gone 12 rounds, but I'm told the secret to success is to go 12 rounds whilst simultaneously punching and taking punches.
And I can totally imagine how shit the peiople who went to this must be feeling - particularly those who went to a boxing show for the first time. I started watching it with 4 guys last night, who arn't really bothered by boxing. 2 went off to play online poker at the 1st ad, and one went off to rummage around my girlfriend's knicker draw half way in. So I'm left with one guy who just kept saying "this is shit. Why do you watch it." One of the guys who was playing poker managed to watch the entire Skelton-Williams II fight, so that's saying something.
Oh come on, pull the other one!... 'Haye had to go 12 some time' wake up! Haye still hasnt gone 12 rounds... not 12 competitive fighting rounds!. How many world class Cruisers out there would let Haye get away with throwing 3 right hands a round... ludicrous!. If Haye really believes in the bull that he's spouting then he's in for an even worse defeat than the Thompson fight if he meets Bell. I'd pick both Maccranellie and Hobson to beat Haye..... Enzo has improved and has the fighting heart that Haye obviously lacks...Terence wrote:I was there for British Boxing.net (report should be up) and firstly it was fooking roasting in there, I felt like dipping my feet in the ice-buckets.
Haye did disappoint but in his last two fights there has been a certain method and it seems he is changing his style to ensure that the Thompson fight is not repeated. Most of us could go 36 minutes on a heavy bag as the fact the bag is stationary means less movement even if you move around it, throw in the heat ring lights and the opponent and it is natural Haye will be wary of his first 12 rounds. He now knows he can do it in an easy fight (something I feel he was unsure about, and you can't take that into a title fight) so now he can find out if he can do it in a hard fight, it is about building yourself up. If you do a ten mile run you are going to be knackered the first time and will do it slowly but at least you find out you can do it and how comfortable you feel.
Watching the fight I thought it would go from jabs early, then onto 1-2's, then onto combos and then a few rounds of concerted effort to finish but it didn't happen that way. At first it looked like he was building things up but in retrospect it seems he was just seeing what a real 12 rounds is like.
It wasn't the most outrageous thing I've ever seen. His movement is good and even when he doesn't do much you can see the quality. Down the line we may see him in a hard 12 rounds but should he be having hard rounds at this level? I'd say no.
As for the booing, fair enough if you've paid your money to watch a show but on the other hand undercards are there to provide a mixture. Many who paid will be boxing fans and got to see some good boxing. Some will have paid specifically for Haye and if they are Haye fans they'll forgive him as soon as he gets another KO. Haye had to go 12 some time and better to do it now instead of in a big fight.
I'd rather have this, quiet main event and a decent card, than some of the cards I've seen where the main is short-lived and the undercard dire.
