Amir Khan failed to appear in court on Monday to face a charge of dangerous driving.

Khan's solicitors had earlier faxed the Crown Prosecution Service to re-arrange the date - but Bolton Magistrates' Court was not aware until case papers were re-checked this morning.

Khan is currently in Bulgaria, the court heard, and a new date for his appearance was set for this Thursday.

The 19-year-old was arrested last month after an incident on Bradshawgate in his home town of Bolton, when a man suffered a broken leg in a road accident.

The alleged crash took place at around 4.45pm on March 2.

The teenage boxing sensation shot to fame at the 2004 Olympics when he scooped a silver medal.

The youngster, who was only 17 at the time of the Games, won the hearts of the nation after a stunning string of victories leading up to the final.

Khan has since turned professional and has yet to be beaten in the ring.

He was given unconditional bail to appear at the court at 9.45am on Thursday.

The victim suffered a broken leg? Well I think Khan should pay a substantial fine at least.

Send him to prison. Lock up dangerous drivers the next poor bastard Khan rolls over could end up like Naz's victim or even dead.
