So what if Gatti was beaten, fight the guy who beat him. They're obsessed with fighting in America, so if the Americans wouldn't like him fighting Witter if he wins against Corley, then he won't then?

His options aren't much better now than they were when he took the Collazo fight. He could fight Baldomir, Urkal or maybe the winner of Witter vs. Corley, but aside from that who is there? The Cotto fight won't be made yet, and neither will Mayweather. A Baldomir fight is probably the most risky on paper, but a fight against Urkal, Witter or even Corley would generate very little interest in the US.

Its plan for all to see that Hattons carreer has become a complete balls up since Hobson took the reigns....Hatton is easily getting better dough than Franky Boy paid him but the organization has gone way down hill...also think the press interest has dropped of a little as well....people like Hobson just cant expect to walk into Big time promoting with little experience and expect things to run smoothley...its like asking a 2nd division manager to take over at Man Utd....Frank has tied him up in every way poss..(MEN Arena deal...purse bids for Woods Fight..Taking on Mabye..)

Not quite sure if Hatton will go back to Light Welter...its no secret that he ballons up during fight times and them last few ponds must be murder to shake off.....he would most probs benifit taking more time with building into a full welter weight than just doing loads of pad work in his sweat suit to lose the weight....
either way only feel Hatton has 2 maybe 3 fight left

Well, Hatton looked as strong as a bull for the Tszyu fight, had bags of stamina and totally outwrestled and outmuscles the Russian strongman.

By contrast his shots seemed to bounce relatively harmlessly off Collazzo and every shot jarred him, the move up in weight is not a good move for a fighter like Hatton. His short and stocky frame cannot support that much more weight, and his style doesn't lend itself either.

The fighters who move up in weight successfully tend to be rangier guys with more all round boxing skills. Hatton has underrated skills, but he isn't that cute on the inside, especially lately and against bigger stronger guys he's going to ship a few to land his own.

He's not in a great position now, Mayweather is looking elsewhere, and everyone else is trying to get in on the act. I can see Mayweather taking on Baldomir to clear up another belt, then taking on Goldie next year.

That leaves what, Margarito? That's not a great fight for Hatton, probably the biggest hitter in the division, and the naturally bigger man for sure, not a great proposition.

Hatton is made for Magarrito....not a good move....as you say the future dont look great at the mo...Hobson has ballsed it up really..moved up to Welter to soon....Cotto aint really progressed sine Corley rocked him and it maybe a good time now...due to SKYs big build up Cotto is seen as some kind of Monster over here and it would be a massive fight on pay per view

I think Hatton can beat Cotto, I always did ever since seeing Cotto in with N'dou, he doesn't like pressure at all. However Cotto has balls of brass and if Hatton is hammering on him, you can be sure he won't just stand there and take it, he'll fight through the pain and give him loads back.

If Hatton went back to that body attack he used to rely on, I think he could smash Cotto up and break him down, but vby christ it would make for one hell of a fight.

Cotto doesn't seem to have a huge amount of big fights out there right now himself, but I doubt Arum wants to take a risk with him.

yea i could see Hatton body attack busting up a weight drained Cotto...really feel Hatton could swarm all over him...dont think 1 bad night against Collazo has made Hatton bad...he has never looked great against leftys anyway

I also feel that ever since the tackie fight on, Hatton hasn't focused on his body work and using the angles like he used to. His body shots are by far and away his most potent weapons. You could argue that it's one dimensional, but against motivated and elite level opponents, you need to be able to deter them, and Hatton rib bending body shots I think remain his best shot at wearing downt the top guys. Against Mayweather, this would have to be his course of action, because he would get beaten to the punch too often head hunting. Even blocking body shots is going to be painful with Hatton pounding on your arms.

Cotto is cute enough on the inside to put together hurtful combinations if Hatton were trying to mix it up, and I think Ricky despite his strength would come off second best, but if he swarmed all over him digging to the body I think that Cotto might wilt surprisingly fast. He woudl go down swinging though.

I'm supporting Hatton moving back down.

It has all gone to pot this move to welter. Welter just isn't for Ricky. I would like to see him drop down and fight the likes of Castillo, Corrales(when he does move up) & Witter.

Hatton-Mayweather isn't happening. Floyd will be after Baldomir and De La Hoya.

Cottos moving to 147 (his last fight was supposedly his last at 140), Castillo is probably going to 147, Corrales is staying at 135 to fight Cassamoya, who does that leave at 140? Witter-Corley winner WBC, Urango IBF - could get his belt back easily but would have to pay him a few quid, WBA - whos fighting for this, Mbaiye? Because its vacant

Hatton should be gunning for Baldomir, the fights at 140 are easy - other than Witter/Corley/Harris and not much big money in them

Baldomir can make more money fighting Mayweather, why would he fight Hatton?

Personally, i think the reason hatton kept getting hurt was not that he was at welter, but because he couldn't see Collazo's punches coming

No he probably can't, PBF is fighting Spinks or Marg next, he wouldn't fight Baldomir before because Baldomir wanted too much and there was no money in it, the situations still the same
