Erdei vs Ulrich round by round

I will do round by round of this fight when it starts in 5-10 mins.

The main event is for the WBO Light Heavyweight title between the universum boxers Erdei and Ulrich.

This fight is the 2nd part of the new universum theme "Universum champions night".

I think the creation of this concept is due to the viewing figures on ZDF havent been that good lately. Only Regina Halmich seems to get good number (7-9 mill viewers in average), so Universum is probably looking to create a new superstar in Germany after the recent viewing figures for Sturm, Veit, Brähmer and Erdei have been disappointing. The concept also means that there wont be any non title fights on ZDF like it has been in the past (like Ulrich vs Saenz)

The next "Universum Champions Night" is on september 9th when Regina Halmich takes on Ria Namnarie on a female dominated card (the card: http://www.boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=501861 )

Round 3

Apparently Ulrich is called "ulrike" by his team mates in the gym. Ulrich is said to be one of the most unliked Universum boxer in the Universum gyms while Erdei is most liked.

Pace have dropped a lot

Ulrich is mostly using his jab.

Again a close round - 10-9 Erdei

29-28 Erdei

Round 4

A bit more action in the first 30 secs of the round, but it drops again after that.

Good counter by Erdei

Online votes have it 2-1 for Ulrich (1st round to Erdei)

Erdei is starting to get his jab going.

Its a very clean fight, I dont think the ref have said break yet.

Clearest round so far, 10-9 Erdei

39-37 Erdei.

Round 5

Erdei opens the round with a couple of good lefts.

Ulrich got two small cuts (nothing to worry about yet)

Ulrich is starting to be more agressive.

Still most of the punches from both fighters are on the arms of the opponent.

Erdei wins the round because he lands jab more, but its not a really clear round.

49-46 Erdei

Round 6

Ulrich is letting his punches go more, but nothing really lands.

Im giving this round to Erdei because of his defense, he avoids and blocks most of what Ulrich throws.

59-55 Erdei.

The fight can very easily be even on the judges scorecards.

Round 7

Online voters have it 4-2 for Erdei.

Its still a very clean fight, only action for Cotton is in the start and end of the rounds.

Erdei lands a couple of good punches.

Erdei is still avoidng what Ulrich throws.

Again the same picture in this round, Erdei wins because of his defense.

69-64 Erdei

Round 8

Erdei lands a couple of good rights.

Erdei still showing a superior defense.

Round for Erdei

79-73

Ulruch really have to do something different if he want to win this fight, he simply cant land anything on Erdei.

Round 9

Almost seems like Erdei can land his jab at will. Ulrich's is starting to swell because of it.

Round 11

Ulrich is being told by his trainer that he needs to go for the KO.

Erdei's trainer Sdunek won the last major internal Universum battle when the Sdunek trained Veit beat the Michael Timm trained Brähmer, looks like he will win against Torsten Schmitz also.

Ulrich wins the round for being more agressive

108-101 Erdei

Good job as ever Freiheit. Hopefully we'll see the fight on Eurosport soon.

Quick Question: How do you see Woods doing against Erdei? (presuming, of course, that he gets past Johnson. Which I'm not too sure he does).

I havent seen Woods fight for several years so I cant comment on it.
