according to secondsout, Haye has been ordered into a final WBC eliminator versus Pietro Aurino, the tricky counter punching Italian who was battered by JC Gomez and stopped by Johnny Nelson. Aurino won a fight last night.

Meanwhile, F_UCK Chris Byrd, Bell must face Mormeck in a rematch! If he fights Byrd, he'll have to give his only remaining title up.

He still has the WBA.

Long as Mormeck doesn't neglect his stamina, he clearly beats Bell.

Aurino has a fight against Huck in September, which seems fairly set in stone, and is by no means a forgone conclusion

anyone who puts big money up for Bell v Byrd should be charged by the NSPCC - National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Cruiserweights.

Byrd is an all time stinker & isn't the outstanding pure boxer who could've dominated 168, 175 and cruiser like ppl say he could. he lost to Arthur Williams but got a lucky decision years ago.

if that would deprive us of Bell-Mormeck II, the sequel to an outright classic, then someone needs to abduct Byrd, trap him in a car boot, and give him back AFTER the fight!

So when must Haye v Aurino happen by. That's a very winnable fight for Haye.

Will it be a fight which is of use to Haye in terms of his developing carrer? Would it make him more ready for Bell?

If its an eliminator of course it will be good for developing his career. And Aurino is better than Haye's last 2 opponents. He's only ever lost to Nelson and Gomez both by stoppage.

Well he's a southpaw which might be useful.

aurino's just accepted an EBU-EU title fight. the poor relation of the European title belt. wonder what that does? does it make haye fight mormeck? does it mean Haye is left to fight stink-face Byrd? or will bell still rematch mormeck, and the next guy up from aurino has to fight haye?

I wonder if Jirov will fit into the equation somewhere. He is a name and was well respected as a Cruiserweight. He seems to be fighting at Cruiserweight now. Last time he weight 200 lbs and his next fight (on the Holyfield undercard) seems to be set at Cruiserweight.

sounds good. jirov was an excellent fighter. so long as he tries to rehabilitiate himself, and starts to look good, i'm sure Showtime might start to show an interest in him.

It would be nice to think a relatively comfortable eliminator against Aurino would get Haye a shot, but Mormeck you'd think has to come first.

You never know though. Maybe Mormeck would like an easier route, like taking on Hill again. Or does he want revenge on Bell?

The WBC have missed out Pryce on their Light Middle list and still have Ossie Duran as the Commonwealth Light Middle champ!

Mormeck has massive grounds to demand a rematch, since he was fouled many times. Someone counted 48 shots to the back of his head, and the ref didn't start warning Bell until about #43 (not counted myself, that's what i read)

Hill is fighting Henry Maske in a massive money fight. Maske hasn't thrown a punch in about 10 years, he runs a McDonalds now!

Mormeck vs Hill is no forgone conclusion. Hill was very close not beating him last time. A rare KD cost him a points win.

How is fighting Maske a massive money fight?

first of all, most of the best fighters based in Germany are foreigners - Abraham is Armenian, so to is Urkal (I think), Erdei is Hungarian by birth, & the best of the lot, Dzinziruk, is Ukrainian. Wladimir Sidorenko is also Russian, and from what I've seen, in Germany his fights are shown in 5 minute highlight sections!

No wonder that Universum managed to get Thomas Ulrich TWO world title fights since around last October. They want Germans to have world titles.


There aren't that many fighters that connect massively with the German public. Maske, who really heralded a renaissance for boxing in Germany, is a massive name. His WBA/IBF unification with Hill in 1996 was probably the most important fight ever staged in Germany in the modern era. In short, Germans will - or are expected to - pay to see Maske. Likewise with Schultz. Dunno why they like Axel so much, probably being robbed against Foreman is part of his appeal.
