Richie Davis knows his Boxing Listens to critism, and is a top fella.

I can see that, although I think Steve Holdsworth looks a bit like him too.

Seems to be one of the better referee's - trying to think of an incident where he handled something wrong (in judging or refereeing) and I am struggling off the top of my head. His scoring of Williams vs Skelton 1 I disagreed with, but hardly the crime of the century.

Richie is a very good referee and a nice fella.

When all and sundry (including me) were squirming in our seats and wanting him to wave Thompson-Rothmann off, Richie let it go that little bit longer...BANG!

Incredible reffing.

Richie has been around a long time. Remember him reffing in the amateurs many moons ago. Then I think he moved into reffing on the unlicenced boxing circuit for a while before finding his natural home with licensed boxing.

Always remember him as a nice fella though.

Is that the total depth of your analysis?... why do you think he's rubbish?... you aint the boxer who whacked him after he stopped your fight are you?...
...personally I think Richie is an excellent ref, I've seen him handle lots of fights and cant recall him ever making any obvious mistakes... which is all in all extremely rare...

Good example of the ref knowing the fighter and giving him the benifit of the doubt... contrast that with Thompsons stoppage defeat against Johnny Nelson... shame Richie wasnt refereeing that bout...

I assume you mean new Breed? I don't mind Ian John Lewis and Mark Green is a good ref too. Marcus McDonnell took a recent fight out in South Africa and did well apparently so we have a good batch of refs over here. Richie Davies is a good ref but sometimes he gets a bit too irate, i keep thinking the poor fella is about to have a cardiac or something :o

I think Richie Davies is one of the best out there just needs to lose a little weight though.
