HATTON-CASTILLO - in the works?

Arum believes that Castillo will be suspended till the end of the year. He's bene in touch with Hatton's ppl (stateside & UK). Not heard Hatton's side of it yet. Arum wants Castillo to have a fight in Mexico in the meantime, while Hatton sorts out his next (title?) fight.
Hope this comes off. I'd favour Castillo.

Read about this, I favour Hatton - much faster, younger, better footwork, higher workrate, naturally bigger, been in less wars, and his conditioning/nutrition programme gives him a strength edge. Speed will be Hattons biggest asset.
Areas Castillo may be better on defense, experience, timing, and a slight edge on power (maybe)
Castillos success has been partly down to him outweighing opponents by 10-15lbs. He won't have that on Hatton.
Could be a great fight.

I REALLY hope that this one happens, it think Ricky would look amazing in this fight and also be very exciting against Castillo. If he could whip the boy mayweather had troubles with, it would do peoples opinions of him alot of good, and do his popularity a few favours too.
I think either this fight or the fight with Miguel Cotto would set Hatton up nicely for this fight with Floyd. HATTON SHOULD BIN THE WBA BELT ALONG WITH ITS MANDATORY!

Who throws more power punches per 12rounds than Hatton? Who works out as intensely, has as much energy, does 15round bodybag sesisons?? Not Jose 'I pig out on tacos 3 days before fighting Corrales' Castillo thats for sure. Hatton has also never failed to make weight.
I'm a known Hatton hater but I give props where they're due

If Hatton turned up against Castillo in the form of his past 2 fights then I think he would be in a lot of trouble.... Castillos fought a higher calibre of opposition and is the more proven warrior, as for him being rusty Hatton has hardly been overactive and if anything the lay off will do Castillo good after his recent wars... Hatton is the one who is missing sharpness from being less active....
I agree that it would be a great fight and this is the sort of fight Hatton should be aiming for... lets get it on for christssakes!...

PN, watch his 2nd fight with the outstanding Stevie Johnston. Close to 2000 punches thrown. Classic fight, I don't know why more ppl don't talk about that one.

Castillo has been struggling with the weight for years and had to learn a very spare, economical style to stay at l/w. He might be a lot more energetic that any of us believe. But then again we'll have to see, as he's had some exceptionally punishing fights - Julio Alvarez, Cesar Bazan, the two with Johnston, the two with Jauregei, Casamayor, Corrales I. & he may have hell getting down to 140.

One guy blows up between fights and works his weight down, the other guy blows up between fights and tries to pull a fast one at the weigh-in. If the Castillo who turned up for his last fight shows his face, well there will be no fight. Just controversy and apologetic fans.
'Nutritional is right, blowing up between fights isn't ideal but you have one guy who actually honours his contract and respects his contract and the other who guy is incapable of doing either. One guy who makes the weight and sets a pace and another guy who fails to make weight and sulks like a girl who misses her prom because she is too fat to fit in her, optimisticall small, dress. This is the same Castillo who boasted about eating Taco's and drinking beer when he should have been getting his weight down versus Corrales.
If the fight is made it will be a fine fight but Arum needs to assure the Hatton camp his fighter will actually try to make the weight.
Any lay-off is the fault of Castillo.
but a fight with Hatton - or any other for the rest of his career - will not be at lightweight!

But Maussa do fighters really get faster and have a higher workrate as they go up in weight. Lets look at other weight drainers:
Morales - slowed down as he went up
DLH - work rate and stamina dropped
I doubt at this advanced age going up in weight will give Castillos style any kind of injection.

you're probably right, he didn't look very fast or energetic against Rolando Reyes

Just because Hatton makes the weight doesnt mean he isnt damaging his body and career with his constant weight loss between fights... 90% of his training is geared towards making the weight rather than improving himself as a fighter and its starting to show in the ring... or havent you seen his last two fights...
As for Castillo he was hardly fat when he failed to make the weight... he'd not be fighting Ricky at 135 either...

Both love to fight inside. This could be a war, and I don't see it going 12 rounds either.

I think this would make more sense at Light Welter, but I'm not complaining if its at Welter. Should be a cracker, hope it is made. Whilst, what Castillo done should not be condoned - I don't think he should be forgotton as a very credible opponent for any Light Welter/Welter.

Hmm. I assume Castillo was fat when he started the weight shedding process, otherwise his inability to make the weight, plus his skeletal frame, is puzzling? Was he wildly overweight when camped opened? Or is his weight permanently at Belsen levels?
I saw the last two Hatton fights, plus the preparation for Collazo, and he wasn't hanging onto a few lbs in the final weeks in order to pull a fast one. Both men go into camp heavy but one man (Hatton) makes the weight in good time, one man has twice failed to make the weight, or have you missed the past two Castillo-Corrales weigh-ins.
Could the struggle at welterweight have anything to do with facing a big, strong, southpaw? These type of fights might be easy on paper but then fights are not fought on paper, they are fought on canvas

Well Corrales cheated in the first fight so whats good for the goose... as the saying goes... I've seen Castillo fighting at 150 and he hardly had an ounce of flesh on him then... I doubt Castillo ever gets to the blimp like proportions of Fatton, I mean Hatton!... he's got a naturally much bigger frame and may well be looking to take Ricky on at 147... which would be a mistake for Hatton as he is sharper at 140 and should stick to that weight... but can he get all the flab off and make 140 anymore???....

Cheating is a premeditated action, I tried to teach you this before
Castillo does blow-up between fights, as does Hatton. You could say Ricky is blimp-like but what will Castillo be like after a long lay-off? Nacho fat-boy.
Personally I prefer Ricky at 147, it is a case of pragmatics, there are no real fights at the lower weight. If he can 100% make Castillo at that weight for a title then fair enough, if not he should stay at 147 and grow into the weight. Unless he takes on Margarito he has faced the biggest man he will face at the weight, plus Collazo's stance and gait increases this advantage. I prefer Ricky at 147 from now until he retires, there is a greater legacy to be built at 147, but yes, he can make 140lb without any problems. He trains really hard.
Its a shame that you have to try and keep up this strange act of yours T rather than showing any knowledge or contributing to a debate it is just boorish, childish and rather sad.

A comfortable nights work for Hatton, and he'll look good in the process :)
