Who wins this match?

Could Tito stop this tiger with his great power and combinations?

Could Basilio's pressure overwhelm the Puerto Rican?

I pick Basilio by late KO win in an all out war.

If I was betting on it I'd go for Basilio by KO.

Trinidad tko late. Basillio's style would not serve him well against Tito.

by BoxBuzz
it would serve him well enough to topple the will-o-the-wisp in about 10 rounds.

Tito can crack but not everyone is going to go when he hits them. Tito is also fairly easy to find and to hit. It would be a case of whose chin cracks first and we know who that would be.
Trinidad wasnt ko'd until he was a middleweight. At welter he was knocked down alot but it had more to do with balance than anything. Trinidad never appeared hurt after suffering those knockdowns.
Basillio was also not a hard puncher. His ko's were a result of an accumilation of shots. With Trinidads power, Basillio would not be able to land as many punches. By the end of the fight Basillio's face would resemble a pumpkin.

So at some point Basilio did not look like a pumpkin? Or are you saying that Tito would have no effect on Carmen's face?

some of you guys forget how hard carmen hit at 147lb. he knocked down and nearly out granite chin kid gavilan for a 9 count. tito had a very vunerable chin, carmen could defintley knock him out.

I’m with theone on this one. Trinidad would’ve totally destroyed Basilio. Basilio was 5’7 with no power and love to trade punches which fits perfectly with Trinidad style. Trinidad would’ve hunt him down and KO him inside of 9 rounds. No way Basilio could’ve keep Trinidad at bay he have to come inside and that would’ve been the end of him. :TU:

Easy win for for Basilio. Tito is not even close to B's league.

What else is new?   And I thought you have some knowledge of boxing. I guess your ignorance is equal to your bias.   Explain how Basilio will win. His style fits perfect for Trinidad and if Tito is not even B, what does that make DLH a Class C.   This should be good, please enlighten me.

Felix Trinidad was never much of a welterweight. All he ever did was go 36-0 with 30 KO's, and 17-0 with 14 KO's in title bouts, plus he handed 8 fighters (in title bouts) there first ever KO losses, and beat three fighters who will be in the Hall of Fame in the future.

no power? tell that to granite chinned ATG top 10 welterweight of all time kid gavilan who basillio floored and nearly knocked out! only the 2nd time in gavilans over 100 pro fight career he had ever been floored.basillio also knocked out welterweight champs johnny saxton and my fellow homeboy tony demarco

basillio could hit at 147!

oscar was a better 147lb than tito. oscar schooled tito, i dont care wut u say no way oscar lost that fight.i scored the fight 10 times, and each time after 9 rounds i had de lahoya so far ahead the last 3 rounds didnt matter. oscar took tito to school and gave him a boxing lesson. last time i scored it, i had oscar winning 8 out of the first 9 rounds vs tito. honestly the worst it could have been after 9 rounds was 7 rounds to 2 oscar, he was dominating tito so badly!

BB you are quite correct DLH was so far ahead that Tito couldn’t catch up to him, since DLH thought that he was in a marathon and ran ,ran and ran some more..   Yes DLH school Tito on how to run a marathon. The judges and I saw it the same way, Trinidad win and no matter how much you try to change the outcome is not going to happen. Get over it Trinidad won, won and won. Just because DLH was your favorite fighter does not make him the winner. There is a reason why Oscar earned the nickname CHICKEN DE LA HOYA. A complete disgrace and explain to me how you can justify giving DLH any of the first two rounds if he ran for more than two minutes in those rounds. Go back and watch the fight again. DLH lost plain and simple and he should be completely ashamed of his performance on that fight. It was a fight not a marathon. :TU:

this is no slam dunk, and differing viewpoints do not constitute ignorance of the game in this case. I.M.H.O.

Now if you want to argue that Tito could manage a win over Robinson which I do believe Carmen managed to do...then I would argue that an opinion of that nature might show a wee bit of lean knowledge of the sweet science.

Care to go with the "styles make fights" option?

Not a good point in this argument at all Buzz. Plenty of guys beat Robinson at that point of his career, Tiger Jones,Fullmer,Paul Pender,Denny Moyer,Phil Moyer,Terry Downes and others who couldnt carry his jock strap in his prime.

Robinson was a shell of his former self by that time. On occasion he could summon up a glimpse of his former self, but for the most part his former self was gone.

Tito had world class power but a poor chin and nothing much else in his arsenal is really that impressive... Basilo is one of the toughest guys to ever get in the ring... look at his record, the guys he fought, this man wasnt a powder puff... Basilo would walk right through Tito, whose there to hit all night, and Carmen would win what I think would be a rather one-sided fight in about 5 rounds... Tito was fairly good but Carmen is an all time great and a league above...

For over a decade Tito was one of the most dominating fighters in the world. That must have been a fluke according to you. By the way, Tito was only ko'd once against all time great middleweight Hopkins.
Basilo is one of the toughest guys to ever get in the ring... look at his record, the guys he fought, this man wasnt a powder puff..
Ive seen his record. Alot of losses to fighters not exactley in Tito's league. A tough showing against an aging Gavilan, who never beat a fighter of note after that. A win a loss and a draw against old man Billy Graham and ancient lightweight great Ike Williams. The only two stand out fights on his record were a wins against Saxton and Demarco. Very good fighters but far from greats. His win against Robinson demonstrates not how great Basillio was but how done Robinson was by that time. Notice that Basillo didnt accomplish much else at middleweight.
Basilo would walk right through Tito, whose there to hit all night, and Carmen would win what I think would be a rather one-sided fight in about 5 rounds...
Basillio never faced anyone with Tito's two fisted power. Besides Saxton, Basillio never ko'd any world class oppisition in 5 rounds or less. In fact Basillio rarely ko'd any world class fighters.
Tito was fairly good but Carmen is an all time great and a league above...
Tito is an all time great welterweight who looked like a frieght train until he ran into Hokpkins. Hopkins at the period of time was a better fighter than the Robinson Basillio beat for the title.
To put Basillio a league above Tito is, no offense, rather silly.

Persoanlly I think to even think of comparing Hopkins with Robinson is rather silly. Some of Basilos early defeats were when he was learning his trade, remember when fighters used to do that?.... with Tito we are talking about a fighter who used to be knocked over by fighters who were not even Europeon level..... dont believe the hype, Basilo was in a different class to Tito....

Why? Im not comparing prime for pirme. You thiknk Fullmer or Pender or any of the fighters who beat Robinson at that time were better than Hopkins?

It took Basillio 6 years and over 40 fights before he won his first big fight, a decision over Billy Graham. Slow learner aint he? Within three years Tito was already fighting quality oppistion, and winning.
with Tito we are talking about a fighter who used to be knocked over by fighters who were not even Europeon level..
Really? Name one. The fighters i know of that knocked Trinidad down, mostly in the second round, were all top ranked fighters who paid a dear price afterwards.

Tito was NEVER in the class of Carmen Basilio. Basilio at 147 fought better skilled fighters than Tito. That is only at 147. Not to mention a great victory over the greatest fighter ever which is a great accomplishment going up in weight at only 153 pounds.

Basilio was so smart inside the exchanges. Very difficult to hit because he used to fight in a crouch. Robinson had GREAT TROUBLE finding the target.

This is not Yory Boy Campas here. I go with Basilio in spectacular fashion by TKO. The same way he did in Johnny Saxton and Tony DeMarco fights.
