Roy Jones vs Joe Calzaghe prime for prime 168lb

jones by TKO

calzaghe throws arm punches, he has poor punching technique. he seems a bit herky jerky. jones was much more smooth. jones speed, athletism, power and all around natural talent would be wayy too much for calzaghe to handle IMO

Agree - A prime Jones at 168 wins by TKO or Wide UD -

I believe Roy Jones would defeat Calzaghe, with his style of throwing potshots and getting out the way.

RJJ easily! Not even close, if he really wanted to I'd say he stops him mid-rounds.

i think RJJ's peak was when he fought at 175, calzaghe has fought his entire career at 168 and its difficult to say when his peak even was!
this would be closer than you all think IMO

Jones wins very easily...probably by knockout. Jones had serious knockout power at 160 and 168 combined with his overwhelming talent and ability...Calzaghe wouldn't have a chance!

Suprised this one was even suggested!!!!

Would be a very one sided fight.Jones by KO or very wide decision.

Different class to Calzaghe.

Roy Jones would do everything wrong against a southpaw.......... and still win... Jones by 119-109 UD

You have to keep in mind that those people were claiming that on the heels of Jones third straight loss and Calzaghe's decision win over Lacy. Overexcitement clouds better judgment, perhaps?

Terence wrote:The fight never takes place. It is made for MSG and Calzaghe pulls out with a broken nail. He then fights McIntye again and declares himself the best fighter in the world. A reporter asks him why he pulled out of the fight and if he needs to fight Jones to build a legacy. Calzaghe replies: "I don't rate Jones at all, he is not in my league and why should I fight him to prove that. That is not what boxing is about. I'm taking on TBA in Cardiff instead for my homecoming."

Then he pulls out of that.

Joe beating Jeff was the worst possible outcome for boxing as it has boosted him beyond reasonable levels.
Oddly, this is the most accurate of all of our predictions.

Not to be the one to disagree (because I don't) but I think you underestimate Calzaghe, I still think Jones but Calzaghe's grit and work rate would not stop eventhough he lacks a finishing punch, Calzaghe can slug it out for 12 rounds but he would be dismantled on the odd occasion by Jones, giving Jones a win by UD.

He throws arm punches nowadays because his hands are so fragile.

Earlier on in his career, he was a big puncher.

I do agree that RJJ would have won on pts though.
