Just checking out some dates on Boxrec & i see Witter has finally got a date in September for his fight with Corley. Witter last fought in October last year so do you guys reckon Witter needed 11 months off and do you think he may have benefitted by having such a lengthy time off. If my memory serves me correctly his 3 fights in 2005 were pretty poor, can Witter bounce back from these poor efforts & produce a big display ???

No, I think this can only harm him.

Witter isn't my favourite fighter by any stretch but I hate the way he has been an example of how a career can be basically fucked up by the state the sport has been allowed to get in to.

Lets hope he still has enough left to beat Corley.

I suppose the good thing is Witter is always in the gym and will have stayed in shape the whole time. But with his style he needs to be kept busy you would think.

I fear for him really, he's been showing signs of decline in his last few fights and inactivity is poison to a boxer who relies on speed and reflexes... I 'm afraid that this title shot against Corley will prove too much too late... hope I'm wrong though....

Chop Chop has also been off for a year and a month too.

Lets hope Witter really was fighting to the level of his opponents recently, a year off will be to detriment, its all if he can find his earlier sharpness and how good Corley is (who got bullyed by Cotto so maybe Witter can do the same)

After Cotto, Corley fought average stay busy fights while Witter fought a Euro class fight then Lynes too.

And looked awful in beating them by narrow margins Max. This is Witter's biggest test since Judah whereas Corley has been around worldclass for the last few years.

Are Hennesey promoting this fight? There is no mention of it on their website and they are going to have some promoting to do with some of their London based fighters otherwise the Alley Pally is going to be like a graveyard. Only just over a month away.

I was wondering this also. You would think they'd have already started promoting this considering it's a month away and is for Mayweathers WBC belt. Surely they'd be able to promote it as "the one Hatton didn't get" or some bullshit like that. I was at Witters last fight at the York Hall, and he only had about twenty fans there of his own!

Yeah and he's lost to the best world class fighters he's fought while Witter's been ducked and left out, good job theres mandatories.

He didn't look that bad against Kotelnik, he just overdid it because Kotelnik did smeg all early on.

I think he was poor against Kotelink because he had no clue how to deal with a fighter with a tight guard. You could see him standing there looking clueless as to why his opponent was still there. Corley isn't going to provide the same sort of problems but I think Witter will struggle with his cuteness.

Witter early or Corley UD. I don't think Witter carries his power into the later part of the fight that well and obviously his stamina isn't going to have improved after this layoff
