Middleweight title... Who wins?

Richard Williams smooth front foot skills.

Or

Howard Eastmans Uppercut and long jab

I think a RW points Victory personally.

If Howard is to win it has to be by Stoppage - but Howard is not exactly accurate or Hardworking in the ring.

Who wins if the fight takes place?.

I'd favour Eastman. He's slipping but all his loses are against world class boxers. Dropping back down to British level and winning is still in Howard's capabilities in my opinion.

Howards wins by stoppage for me, it may be an awful long time ago but Eastman dealt with Richard quite easily when they met as amateurs and I think Williams will struggle to remove the memory of that should these two meet.

Yes - that was a long time ago.

Richard touched on that subjeact - but amateurs and pros are 2 different things and it was a loooong time ago.

Williams on Points this time.

Miranda and Abrahams have World Class Power - not boxing skills. Both RAW...

Also - since the Amateurs - wasnt Richard the 1st ever person to floor Howard?

Sparring with a bodyshot??.

To my knowledge - Howard has only been down once in his life..Against Williams in Sparring.

RW can box and fight.

Eastman quite easily, hes showed what he does to our british crop, TKO or KO's them, at the end of the day it would be nice fo RW to win but i think he get beat.

Sparring counts for nish. Loads of guys can look good and do good things in sparing but it really does count for nothing. When it's an official contest, then it counts!

Bernard Hopkins and Robert McCracken both had good skills and could punch a fair bit and Eastman faired reasonably well against both.

Miranda can turn the heat up to a serious level and Howard went down fighting, I can't see Williams being able to subject Eastman to that sort of fury and technically I can't see Eastman being subdued for the whole 12 rounds against Richard and that will be a bigh problem for Williams I think.

I never said sparring meant that much.

The Amateurs and Pro form have the same meaning. NONE.

Miranda an Abrahams won against Howard and neither have that much skills.

Miranda POWER.

Abraham POWER.

Hopkins outfoxed Howard easily.

I think RW wins on points - but it is a tough fight.

There is nothig nto subdue with Howard.

He plods after you and throws a few punches here and there.

Avoid the uppercut and you are half way home.

An official amateur bout does carry a lot more weight than sparring in my opinion. Very often the form can be very different from the amateurs to the pro's, but not always and despite all the years that have passed since they last met (the official meeting, that is) I can picture a similar result. Nigel Wright was coming up with the same argument before his bout against Lenny Daws and it back fired. He should not have discounted their previous meeting so quickly and obviously didn't learn the lesson.

No doubt, Richard will take Howard seriously, but have a feeling he will have too much respect for Eastman due to previous experience. Maybe well found out.

Ask Biggs if his amatuer Victory helped him against Tyson in the pros.

Amateur and Pros are too different to compare imo.

The best Amateurs do not always make the best Pros.

Look at the top fighters today. How man won Olympic Gold?.

Or World?.

In other words.

People improve and the timing in ths fight ma be crucial.

RW IS HUNGRY.

Howard has lost 3 all in good company and not really motivated imo.

PLUS - Howard is getting older and stopped recentlky.

He may be ripe for the picking.

RW WPTS 12.

If Abraham can outpoint Howard with NO SKILLS..

RW can....WITH SKILLS

On the flip side if Sergio Martinez can stop Williams then Eastman certainly can. :o

Eastman wins by KO

I hope Eastman dreams of catching the sun & drinking Rum on some tropical beach after the fight rather than in the middle of the fight like he has done the last few times.

If only he would work has hard in the ring has he does getting himself in shape. We would have a class World Champion!

I've said this many times before I just dont think Eastman is that good. I always thought he had an extra gear if required and he fights like he does but he just doesn't have it time to face facts! Good domestic/Euro level fighter but will always come up short in world class.

Watch the fight.

Richard adopted different tactics for this fight - he punched furiously onnthe way in and Martinez ws just too QUICK and fast PUNCHING and eEXCELLENT FOOTWORK.

Richad was never actually OFF HIS FEET OR CLOSE TO IT.

A Middleweiht Richard Williams against Howard who is not fleet footed or quick punching or accurate - has a good chance!

Most of the boxer's you've mentioned here was, at the least, a good amateur. Just becuase they didn't win Gold medals doesn't mean they were not top notch amatuers (RJJ did win the Gold anyway....just got mind numbingly ripped-off for a silver)

If you take away their amatuer careers, how many would still have gone on to achieve what they did?

I fail to see how an amatuer record carries only the same weight as sparring. I refuse to see it, actually!

The point I am making is - forget the AMATEURS. The Pro game is totally different.

Someone mentioned Howard beating Richard in the Amariers - I say forrget the amateurs.

Fighter IMPROVE their styles etc.

Right, I see the point you're making....I just don't agree that amateur form should ALWAYS be forgotton. Sometimes, becuase as you say the two sports are very different, contests from the amatuer days are irrelevant. Other times I believe it definitely is a factor and in the case of Eastman-Williams I say it will be a factor too.

I'll be over the moon should Williams prove me wrong, but I'll be surprised.

Well Sky are still showing Dann-Williams the last time I looked, so the situation is probably far from sorted.

I just think that RW has progressed enough to deal withnHE now. Or at least make it a very good fight.

The fight is Made for November 17th

York Hall Bethnal Green.

After Fridays performance from RW I am more confident then ever that RW beats Howard on points.

Howard is a plodder than needs to be set to punch and take forever to do it - add to that he has no accuracy and RW wins!

Come on Richard!
