Bad news for SN. They are reaching break point.
Oh sorry, wrong thread

Announcing Calzaghe opponents has become an absolute joke, just look at the absolute farce last time before he pulled out injured.
Why do they bother setting these dates when they will announce the opponent only to cancel?
SHAMBLES!

Now, as an American, I have to ask this. I understand you guys are proud of Joe and the absolute beating he put down on Lacy. However, he obviously has pulled this type of shit before, and still continues to do it even after having his bandwagon fill up. Are you guys sick of this shit by now, or is it pretty much accepted as standard practice for him?

One thing I have learned over the years when it comes to Sports Network/Frank Warren - one swallow does not make a summer.

Fwank pisses me off, I want another superfight! If Joe had any sense he would leave him....although saying that, it didn't do Hatton any good did it. or did it?
Anyone know when Joe's contract expires?

Calzaghe is as much to blame as Warren, he has been more than happy with this WBO mediocrity for 9 years.

quote from calzaghe after his tenth pro fight:
" I want to be a real world champion like mccallum and toney, not WBO thats too easy."

Oh dear, something (money) must have changed his mind for him.
I get the impression that Warren is an extremely cautious who guards his most talented fighters like the proverbial golden goose, but in doing so kills their careers somewhat. He has probably taken the low risk route with Calzaghe, convincing him to turn down high risk low reward fights, and reminding him that while he remains a champion, he continues earning well.
Calzaghe will most probably retire undefeated, a very rich man, as one of the longest reigning title holders in the history of the sport, he may even make it into the hall of fame, but he will never be regarded as a legend, and I think he honestly had the talent to have done so.

If Bute wins his september fight, he will fight on the Copenhagen card.

Yeah, 30 days to recover... who do you think he'll figth FH ? Martin Nielsen? surely nothing more than a couple of round tune up? Do you think he's being lined up to fight Markussen?

I dont think Bute will fight any danish based fighter. He probably fights on the card for 2 reasons. 1: He is being showcased as a future Kessler/Markussen opponent. 1: TV rights - if he is on the card, canadian and romanian TV will probably buy the card.

Anybody in canada want to see kessler beat beyer :P We have a lot of respect for kessler the way won vs lucas (people champ), however we have no respect for beyer and his team. So putting Bute on the same card than kessler and beyer will be a automatics buy for me :p

That is a clever move. I hope they are succesful in bringing in Bute. Hopefully he will also get a good enough opponent that the fight can be shown on TV.

Is Max in hiding until the Calzaghe opponent is announced? Could be a while yet.

Will it be his IBF mandatory Stieglitz? I see he has pulled out of a fight on a card in Germany this Saturday.

Mundine

He should fight MUNDINE, Calzaghe & Warren are both batty boys always taking easy fights.
If Calzaghe is the best super middle then he should fight MUNDINE.
Cracking fight if it happens!!!!
Then fight the winner of Kessler Vs Beyer for all the titles.
That proves he is the best super middle.

Any chance it will be Markussen, Freiheit?
Mandatory for the WBO, #3 for the IBF- not a big enough name to headline a US bill - FW's new links with Danish TV.
He's supposed to be fighting on the Kessler vs Beyer bill but hasn't had an opponent announced yet.

I highly doubt it will be Markussen. I think he will be fighting in Copenhagen so that he can sell tickets and PPVs + the station that shows Warrens cards are not the same that shows Palle's cards.
Stieglitz is off the german card with an injury (yet again)
