although i very much respect ur opinion.......cervantes knocking out mayweather to me is rather odd. not only was cervantes not an awesome puncher, mayweather has never even been floored before(legitley).

Brocky your right I completely spaced and thought we were talking about SR.....consider this a "senior" moment on my part. I will edit this after considering the right fighter. Matty's grumble threw me....I do consider Cervantes one of the most underated fighters ever...but not THAT underated....

Floyd Mayweather UD Kid Cervantes
Julio Cesar Chavez/Nicolino Locche Draw

Loche, Loi, and Cervantes are likely not going to make it to the next round here.....I may be wrong but my guess is that there is not the appreciation of their abilities that Chavez, Taylor, Tszyu, Mayweather are going to have.

I may go down here as having picked the losing fighter in each case....though I did go with Chavez after much thought. All I can say is may be a good idea to take a second look at Cervantes....I think it's too early to tell if Mayweather would be able to step it up to a champion of his calibre.

I do understand Taylor getting the nod though I don't think it would turn out that way myself.

How about Tony Canzoneri, Barny Ross, Jack Kid Berg and Wilfred Benitez????.... :x ... Canzoneri, Ross and Berg did a significant amount more at 140 than Mayweather, Chavez and Tszyu put together and Benitez gave Cervantes an awsome boxing lesson!... :box: :box: :box:

What's with everyone picking Chavez to knock Locche out?.

Chavez was not at his best at this weight, wasn't a one punch hitter and Locche is one of the best defensive fighters of all-time.He was never stopped other than cuts at the very end of his career.

It's a fight that almost certainly goes the distance and i would favour Locche to outslick him.

I agree, Chavez is overrated generally but especially at 140... he struggled with all his decent opponents at 140...

Yep Loche/Chavez That's one I almost called the other way for those very reasons it would be close.... but watch everyone will call it for Chavez. I'm thinkin this round is going to the famous fighters not the productive ones. Or maybe it's just that I can't stand to be wrong.....I'll have to think about it.

Oh and Pryor.....yeowch I don't even want to talk about it.

I forgot about how much of a Pryor hater you are.

well you can say I'm a Pryor hater...and you would be wrong.

I paid to see him many times and rooted for him often. But more importantly what I am is someone who really got to see what he was made of up close. Could be I have done a good job at assessing his skills vs the many top peers in his division through the years.

I like him just fine, just don't think that he deserves such hype. He was an exciting fighter and he beat alexis twice. That's his resume and it's not strong enough to compete with most of the folks in this tournament. He's media made.....not that there's anything wrong with that. His best performances arrived in a somewhat golden age of TV boxing and he captured a lot of imaginations. Imagination being the key word here.

I don't hate him at all. I simply believe I recognize his abilities as well as his limitations. So stop being so grimm.

Someone had him to the greatest pound for pound fighters of all time in a thread recently.......aye yi yi where does it end.

But since it is appearing to be personal and that buzz "don't like" Aaron...I'll retire the topic for myself from this point on....as not to rattle the cages of the Pryor rumpswabs that abound in these here waters.

I do disagree with much of the popular sentiment about this particular fighter.............And I do wear a hat from time to time.....but far too much is being made of these two non connected aspects of my life.

I don't see how you can have a light-welter tourneyment and not include Berg, Canzoneri, Ross and Benitez... all of whom would have taken Taylor, Chavez, Mayweather and Tszyu... :box: :box: :box:
