How bad did he pimp slap Byrd?

Did I read that right? Joe Calzaghe beat Byrd in a USA v Italy amateur match up???

Crazy to see that Byrd started his career at age 18 as a Light Welterweight.

Byrd could probably make 175 even now. He said that he used to drink loads of water in the day before the weight in to boost his weight on the scales. Said that by the time of the fight, he often weighed under 200!

Just goes to show how deluded(most of) these heavyweights are these days.They seem to think the heavier you are the better

Severely doubt that one. There is no way that Calzaghe ever fought for Italy as an amateur - he went through the ABAs.

I think in Byrd's case he did it so his opponents would think that there wasn't a massive gulf in size or strength.

Byrd has done pretty well with his career when you consider that he was basically a cruiserweight during his heavyweight reign.

He's looking to drop down and fight bell, where I can see him winning. Only the biggest punchers in the division have ever stopped Byrd, and he's never been KO'd cleanly.

perhaps he should have represented italy at the 92 olympics. calzaghe should have gone to those olympics.
