What's the point of holding out for the 20/25 million if you swap Gallas plus 5 million.
Gallas is worth 6/7 million tops.

Gallas is worth more than £6 million. Bear in mind Real Madrid paid over £13 million for Woodgate. Gallas only had a year left on his contract granted but he is a world class central defender. And lets be honest they were backed into a corner on the last day.

Yeah Cole didn't want to play for Arsenal anymore, it had gone too far. Gallas is one of the best defenders around and a proven premiership performer, don't think there is a better centreback available to them.

Arsenal will do ok this season and finish 4th...unless West Ham win the league of course.

Gallas is a better defender. Clichy will be a good left back (is he fit?). All the Chelsea fans I know would rather have kept Gallas. Gallas-Toure is a great defensive partnership.

I think Chelsea pulled a stroke here.They waited till the very last minute of the deadline before tying this deal up.Which means even if they had paid 20mill for Cole,Arsenal would'nt have been able to spend it,so the goons took the part-ex deal so they could also bring in a quality defender.

Exactly, 6/7 tops. That makes the deal about 13 in the end.
Althoguh some Arse sources say they may have given Gallas plus 10 now.
That sounds a lot better if that were true.
Also Jose maybe at breaking point with Kenyon over this too

Mourinho wanted Gallas to rot in the reserves for a year, but at the end of the day he has to realise its a business and Kenyon has to run it like so. Hence why he offloads Gallas to save some money from the Cole transfer.

Mourinho is like a spoilt child sometimes.

The worst has got to be the badge kissing... One minute they're running to the fans, "I love this club" and the next minute they want to move because 60k a week isn't enough...

dont like arsenal or chelsea very much,especially the whingers and moaners like wenger,henri,and mourinho...but as a neutral i would think that arsenal got the best of this deal.gallas is worth far more than cole,and i think anyone who isnt english would agree.the worst thing here is that arsenal have become even more french.they might as well go and play in the french league

Unfortunately everything seems to be in favour of the players these days, the clubs don't seem to have any authority any more. If a player really wants to leave it's virtually impossible to prevent them leaving. I'm sure a player could leave for restriction of trade if they weren't getting any first team games.

They personalities aside, both are world class defenders - although I think Arsenal have had the better deal here, Gallas is much more versital than Cole. Cole could play Left Back or left midfield. Gallas can play pretty much anywhere along the back.
