Quite simply, the best boxer there ever was and ever will be. The man was unbelieveable. At one stage, Robinson went undefeated in 93 pro fights. That's remarkable!

You will not get an argument from me on this subject.

Some 12 months ago I ran across the former Australian lightweight champion George Bracken, still as popular today as he was over forty years ago, and of his only visit to the USA he had this to say: I met my hero, Ray Robinson!!!

willie pep went undefeated in his first 62 fights and after his first loss to Angott he rolled off another win streak of 73 fights. Pep at the time of his first fight with Saddler was an unbelievable 135-1-1. Robinson was 128-1-2 before he faught Randy Turpin. Records like these are truly remarkable and will NEVER be replicated again. I read in the book "In This Corner" that Pep and Robinson actually faught each other as amateurs in Norwich CT which is where I went to H.S. Pep says that Robinson (then went by the name Ray Roberts) totally outclassed him by winning a 3 round Dec. It would figure because Pep was fighting at 105 lbs and Robinson was fighting at around 126. This book by the way is intriguing, the section on Lew Jenkins alone is worth the 2 dollars I spent on it!
