Since it is well established now that Vitali Klitschko was the #1 heavyweight of the world in 2004/05, I thouhgt it's time for the follow-up question.

As always we include a Decagon-option, this time #5.

Btw, I will vote #4 - "no, he is really quite far away from this status".

And that is probably the correct answer...though I chose number 5, but #4 is the best and most accurate statement!!!

Who did he fought? Williams, Sanders, Johnson, Donald, Bean, Purity, Norris and Hoffmann are all class B- or Less. No wins against any class A fighter. The two class A fighters he fought, he lost. One to Byrd and the other to an out of shape Lewis. He was an ok fighter, but far from an all time great.

I'd say #3, except for the fact that there is no one out there dominent enough to give him that sort of status, much less multiple opponents to prove his metal against.

Right now Vitali will just be a footnote as a guy who was considered top for an extremely brief period of time.

None of the heavyweights from the 90s onwards have been all time greats except Holifield, and Bowe... who both deserve a top 15 place... Mikey and Lennox miss out on the top 15 and fall short of that touch of 'greatness'...

bowe? what the hell did he ever do? outside of holyfield(who is known for being very inconsistent and had hepatisis the 3rd time) his resume is a joke.


tyson and lennox have far better legacies than bowe and both deserve to be ranked much higher than bowe

So what is your basis for claiming that he is an all time great? That he outboxed Byrd and then quit and lost.

IMO Byrd defense made Vitali quit. He knew he couldn't do anything and he just simply gave up. Lewis was out of shape and even like that he stop Vitali on cuts that were as big as The Grand Canyon. He simply lost to two better fighters.

That is exactly what happened!!!

Though the Klitschkop nut-huggers can never get past the fantasy-realm, so they are like a record that skips on a bad note, hence the constant argument that Vitali never lost and he never quit...and as I have stated before, the term nut-huggers describes a very small group...it doesn't describe the fan who see's logical facts about an issue!

chris bryd beat vitali. vitali wasnt robbed, he quit on his stool in a championship fight with 2 rounds to go when well ahead on the scorecards. he lacks toughness.


vitali was stopped on cuts vs a past his prime out of shape overweight rusty lennox lewis. other fighters have put on much better preformances against a prime lennox lewis than vitali did vs a far gone lennox.

At least Vlad is still in there givin it what he's got, Vitali really took the easy way out.

I'm sorry Silkov, but the torn rotator came because of Byrd's great defense, and IMO it wasn't a freak accident. Byrd made him miss so much and Vitali was trying to KO him and couldn't again because Byrd's defense. So IMO is similar to a TKO. It wasn't a punch, but it was the defense in this case that made Byrd the winner.
