Klitchsko vs Brock

Can the American Olympian fulfil his tag as being the best prospect, or will Klitchsko out box the Banker.

It is on for November 11th.... Good fight this, although I cannot say I've ever thought of Brock more than "he's alright" - hasn't really got that spark and I expect Wlad to be too experience and win maybe on points.

On a side note, a boxer who I wouldn't mind seeing back in the picture is Kirk Johnson. I've seen his last fight with Javier Mora and he was boxing well untill the legitmate injury. His weight was down and he was showing some excellent skills and speed, against a limited but big punching Mora. If he keeps boxing like that I think I would tip him of Lyakovich.

I reckon Klitschko will knock Brock out.

I've seen precious little of Brock. Seems a decent stylist, but as you say Stu, he's 'alright', rather than anything special. Klitschko, for all his faults, is probably good enough to bang him out. Wlad is a very good technical fighter, with pretty impressive power.

I'm not convinced he's the number 1 heavyweight right now though, not with the doubts over his chin and stamina. A tournament to sort out the best heavyweight in the world woud be very welcome over the next 12-18 months. After all, the boxing world takes its cues from the big guys, and always has done.

I'd expect Wlad to stop Brock, Hasnt Brock been put down once or twice, im fairly certain Mcline put him down. But if Brock starts fast & catches Wlad like Sanders did then it could be a different story, but i'll stick with my initial thought Wlad by KO.

Calvin Brock, what the hells the fuss? Hes another Dominic Guinn, meaning hes just an ordinary US heavyweight with no real wins whos potential is being blown out of all proportion simply because hes a yank and their heavyweight prospect scene is BARREN.

Wlad K will knock this guy out easily.

Interesting to hear Kirk Johnson mentioned. Hes skilled & can punch, but unfortunately he only fights once a year -against a nondescript journeyman- cannot get his weight under control & injured himself in his last fight. My guess is he never fights for a title again. I'd rather see Lawrence Clay-Bey...

Brock by KO for me, i'm not convinced that Wlad isn't going to fall apart once someone lands more than one punch on his chin, Brock puts his combinations together nicely and although he has been decked against McCline, he rode out the follow up and was getting the better of McCline by the rounds end, which shows he has heart.

Nice one by Wlad to be taking this fight though, he proves he's not afraid of anyone by taking on the upcoming puncher in Samuel Peter and now the upcoming boxer in Brock.

If they were the same size I'd pick Brock but I think the disadvantages might prove too much for him, not to mention Wladimir's punches. Brock has probably not been in with somebody who hits as hard as Wladimir. Brock's got a punchers chance though, even though he's not technically a "puncher" as such.

McCline decked him, and he looked fairly hurt at the time. There just seems to be something about Brock that makes you hesitant about his chances, although he's done nothing wrong in his career so far. His fight against McCline was nip and tuck for a lot of the way, before Brock pulled away over the last few rounds.

Maybe his best chance of victory against Klitschko is to weather the early rounds and come on strong in the second half ?

Brock's skills are overrated. His only chance is to start strong early but that will only open himself up, I see him getting KO'd. He holds some good power though, if you've seen his fight with Lawrence then you'll know what I mean. Although Lawrence wasn't much of a threat, 20-11-4...ZERO KO/TKOS

Last time out he looked very poor, Timor was obviously alot worse, he wasn't doing anything but existing, I thought he should of took Timor out, but he did enough to win the fight which btw was one of the ugliest HW fights I've ever seen. (excluding Audley V Williams ofcourse) They were fighting outside in 105'F though. :o

Wlad KO 9

from when he lost to Sanders till now which is 8 times, Wlad has been on the deck 9 or 10 times, he's kind of like a car crash waiting to happen.
How come all the questions are over Brocks chin? Wlad is going to be taken out somewhen soon.

Don't think Brock has the firepower to trouble Wlad, and see him getting busted up. Mind you, nobody fancied Lamon's chances much either going in to the fight. Wlad is an accident waiting to happen, but don't think Broch will be the man to do it.

Pretty good fight. Klitschko has an immense size advantage, and Brock doesn't strike me as overly talented, but he is good in every area, which ma\ight be enough to weather the early rounds assault by Wlad...doubtful though.

Methinks the American's should keep 1 unbeaten prospect back just for their own sanity.

Brock is decent but unspetacular. Why else was he not offered any type of deal after the Olympics. It's just a case of them running further and further down their list for possible heir apparents. He's courageous enough to give it a good solid attempt but i don't think he has the tools to deal with shaky Wlad.

Once Brock is gone who will be they're 'maybe him' man. Like i say they need to keep 2 on the go so when 1 gets beaten they can say oh well maybe this other guy will be the one.

I've revised my view of this one; rather than try to weather the early storm, Calvin would be better off going for broke at the opening bell. Wlad's chin is vulnerable and Brock should try to blast him out of there. If he loses, at least he goes out on his shield, probably with his reputation enhanced in defeat. If he wins, America will go mad for him :D

One of the biggest heavyweights around taking on one of the smallest, is hardly a brave move by Team Wlad. Or a competitive fight.

As seen in the Byrd fight, Wlad is at his dominant best when in with smaller fighters who don't hit hard enough to be a threat to him. Which is why they've taken this fight. He'll rob the banker of his senses by the half way mark.

Yes, I'm not convinced about Brock's chin.... decked by McCline, hurt briefly by Etteine. The reason why I think he will go the distance, is because he does recover pretty quick plus (and more importantly) since Brewster, Wlad has just been so cautious and punches now with one eye on his defence.

Wlad beat TOS, Castillo (the only bum), Peter and Byrd...

to me thats quite a winning streak, and its a better one than Mc Cline, Lawrence and Timor...

Agreed better opponents. No one disputing that. But the TOS was hardly a convincing 'win'... More like a film that finishes half way through and gives no closure.

Yes its a better winning streak, but he got dropped by TOS and Peter, and was shaken whenever they got near his chin.
I just think that Brock is a solid hitter with nice skills, and thats going to cost Wlad.

I find it very hard to believe that some are picking Brock to win this. Anyone who has seen his recent fights should know that his skills are nowhere near comparable to that of Wlad Klitschko. Brock went life and death with McCline, somebody Wlad easily outboxed. A Ko punch saving his blushes and a stinker in his last fight due to his inablity to open up a defensive fighter is not indicative of the next heavyweight champion. I see Wlad outjabbing him and slowly breaking him down with left hooks off the jab and straight right hands. Wlad knows its now or never and I think is finding it easier to relax going into fights knowing that he has to in order to have enough in the tank to go the distance. I expect Wlad to wear Brock down and force an intervention somewhere around the tenth.
