Anybody seen this fella? European light-heavy champ.

Ive never actually seen him, but making the cardinal sin of judging him purely by looking at his record on Boxrec, I would assume he is a soft punching southpaw who wins boring decisions out in Germany.

Is there any more to him than this? Has he scored any good wins, does anything impressively? Or is he just going to be easy fodder for one of the current crop of faceless light heavy chumps?

Gargantuan tall lanky fighter with no tommy hearns style skinny guy snap, just awkward to fight.

sound skills but kind of robotic and def beatable by any top 10 fighter, they would just have a frustrating time against that size advantage. i believe paul briggs beat him, possibly dropping him although not certain on that.

Good assessment from Blowe, I would like to see Elvis Michaelenko have a go vs Drews.

Good but nothing special at all.

Total boar-fests all his fight except the Briggs one, tall awkward rangy southpaw, doesn't like to get into wars, just comes in awkward angles and frustrates opponents

has a good choke hold i think, didn't he try to break paul briggs' neck?

I think Stipe Drews was the lead singer of a german metal band called Whiteviper. He died of a rohypnol overdose I believe....

Drews would beat Michailenko with ease, the Latvian had a very close call against Kurzawa while Drews virtually shut Kurzawa out.

Yeah, I would favour Drews - although they sort of remind me of each other in that they are in the "good, but not special" bracket.

I have the Michailenko vs Kurzawa fight and I thought Elvis won by a bigger margin than he was given it.

True that, but I'd list Drews among the A minus lightheavies and Michailenko in the B plus bracket. Both solid, but neither will be an unidputed champ any time soon.

What's going on with Michailenko anyway, the guy hasn't fought in ages?

very tall guy with poor power, decent speed and skill, good enough defense...fights in Germany and therefore can expect some few hometown decisions...he is boring to watch, awkward, clinches a lot, has a good jab and straight right hand tho...

He looked good in the early rounds against Briggs until he got Knocked down then had points taken off for low blows and copped a bit of a hiding for the last few rounds of there fight.

It's been a while since a watched the fight but i remember him taking a lot of heavy shots in the later rounds, I will have to get it out of the collection and watch again.

Drews just fouled all night versus Briggs and got a few points deducted, when he actually stood off and boxed he was more than in the fight, Briggs power told at the end of the day and Drews didn't fancy it.
