Hide moving to cruiserweight!
Lion Heart Boxing Productions has announced that it has signed former two-time WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide (35-4, 34 KOs) to a three year promotional contract. Hide, who plans to campaign as a cruiserweight, is coming off a two year layoff and has been living and training out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Lion Heart Boxing Productions expects to have Hide fight in October or November 2006. "Campaigning at cruiserweight, Hide should turn the division upside down because of his incredible punching power," said promoter Edward B. Mendy. "If he can regain his form of yesteryear, he should knock any cruiserweight. He was knocking out guys twice his size. Now he gets to fight guys his size or smaller than him."

Sounds serious this time guys. Hes been training in Vegas and has signed a contract. He really is coming back. Must be about 35 by now. Admit it though, sick bastard though he is, he's definitely a lively addition to the cruisers.

Well, I predict this will come to nothing. He'll spend ages calling out David Haye and posturing, and then will dissapear up his own fundament again.

hide was doing well against riddick bowe back in the day so he used to have a bit of talent. long ago, too long ago though.

this edward b mendy character intrigues me. is he related to ambrose mendy the former manager of N.benn and who did a bit of bird?

I'll believe it when he steps through the ropes, how many false dawns have there been? He'll have a punch at 200, but lets be honest a Middleweight could knock him out with his chin.

3 year contract? Thats just crazy.

Yep, you'd have to think that the O'Neil Bell's and the Haye's, Momeck's, Braithwaite's etc of the world hit a lot harder than Joseph Chingangu.

Am i the only one who saw a huge improvement in Herbies skill & technique between his 2-fight abortive 2001 comeback & 2003 when he came back after training along time in Vegas with messrs Mustafa & McCallum..?

Herbie blew out Chingangu in 1 in a rematch and looked much more controlled & cool v Vassiliev and Kulikas (before the headbutt). Overall he looked much better. Those 2 fights in 2001 he looked sloppy, slow and generally bad.

That cut eye was pretty bad luck, it was a right bad gash, looked like a close up of Naomi Campbell's poontang.

Great, I never get tired of watching Herbie hit the canvas. I look forward to a new addition to my pristine collection of Herbie KOs, which occupies space next to the Angel manfredy & Teddy Reid KTFO collections.

My favourite is the Klitschko punch whistling past his ear and Hide on the canvas looking like a rabbit in headlights. Priceless!!

klitschko sneezed on him after the ear punch misses and that was the end of that fight

Vitali punches always look awkward and not powerful, but he does generate power. Mind you you would expect most heavies to take a graze on the ear without collapse, even from a big puncher.

I was there that night, coked up to the eyeballs, and was rooting aggressively for Vitali as I despised Herbie - a belligerent, ignorant bully as far as I was concerned.

Naz must be a cruiserweight by now, so the two boxers always talking about a comeback could fight each other.

Realy though Hide has always looked like a cruiserweight, maybe he has his mind on Enzo beating Nelson.
I would have thought that there was no better time for him to be a Heavyweight in the UK than this present time. Maybe a Audley Harrison fight!

Herbies problem is that he looks good until someone hits him on the chops... persoanlly I'm shocked that there are people still ready to back him... aside from the glass posing as his chin and jawbone he is a total nutcase!...

I remember some years back Barry Hearn calling Hide the 'new Ali' ...this memory always raises a smile for me when life is getting me down!...
