Just watched the fight (Friday 15th Sept). I have to say that if that is the best he can do then he should forget America. He has not a snowball in hell's chance.

Why is it that all Ingle trained boxers seem to be taught to ponce around the ring like ballet dancers instead of boxing.

Watching the Ingle family tonight was like watching the Marx brothers in action !!!.

Witter if he wants to go any further should get away from the Ingle stable and into somewhere that will hone his skills properly.

Well, winning is more important than spectacle. It was a match between two cautious counter punchers, & Witter won clearly enough.

Witter needs to hand pick an aggressive, come forward fighter for his next fight so he can impress, maybe Torres?

I guess it's about the Ingles training their boxers to do enough to win a title, make enough money and live the rest of lives with most of their marbles in tact.

It doesn't make for exciting boxing but it certainly adds another dimension to the sport

That about says it all. Nelson and Witter. Nelson is a nice guy and is certainly a better TV commentator than he will ever be as a boxer.

Neither Nelson or Witter would survive on the US scene. And, Hatton would have Witter for tea.

I totally agree with every word you have said in this post. I think however that some people might feel that boxing like any sport is primarily about entertainment. Last nights fight was a perfect example of what happens when 2 fighters are committed to NOT entertaining the customers, but surviving.

Witter has beaten Bergman, Kotelnik, N'dou and Corley. All top 10. He beat an American in London and an Australian in America. Where do you get off talking that garbage? He totally schooled Corley, really got inside his head, nearly dropped him twice and deserved to win by around 8 points.

Nelson & Witter aren't everone's cup of tea.

But they are excellent defensive fighters.

Nelson has wins over Ezra Sellers (oh, it was Denmark so I guess it doesn't count even tho he beat a dangerous American) Dominguez, Carl Thompson (whom Americans rate above Nelson even tho he is retired and schooled by Nelson!). Anyone think he'd be outclassed by the crude O Neil Bell or the very good but stamina defiicent Mormeck? At least he's willing to actually defend his title.

Look at Bell, allowing himself to get stripped so he doesn't have to fight an awkward foe in Cunningham! Nelson is taking on Maccarinelli next month. Even tho he was told by Drs he'd never fight again he's facing a young power puncher who's rated by publications in the world top 10.

agreed people sometimes forget boxing is a sport and in sport your first and foremost goal is to win - to hit and not get hit. But these days its all about money so fighters who are good but dont necessarily look good dont get the opportunies these days ala witter.
