I'm sorry if this is already widely known, and I've been slow to pick up on it, but...

I read in the Scotsman today that the reason JMM is now fighting someone else next month, is not due to any of Harrisons new/ongoing court dates, but because JMM has decided he doesn't want to fight Harrison in Glasgow!

The article goes on to report that no one is really sure where this leaves Scott - particularly, does he still have to fight SOMEONE by the deadline that was set - Nov 9th or something? - or does this give Harrison more time, will JMM be stripped as mandatory interim champ for not wanting the fight or what???

I'm really not sure I believe this report.

Marquez went to Indonesia to fight Chris John, an opponent whose style made it a difficult fight for Marquez already without the home advantage for John.

After that, going to Glasgow to fight an opponent tailor made for him should be nothing.

Why not go to Glasgow?

He'd be getting paid better than he did to fight John.

Yep he got $30,000 and reportedly lost money after expenses and thats without even considering the damage to his reputation after losing to John.

allegedly secured the purse bid with a fee in the region of about $750,000 and Marquez was due 60% because of Harrison misdemeanors so he would have been looking at $400,000 for this fight and they could have negotiated a deal in case Harrison took one of his psychotic outbursts.

No sure what Marquez is up to, he's only the interim champion, surely if he does not fight Scott he loses this title.

I think Golden Boy would want to get JMM in with Rudy Lopez, a bit of a rookie champion (WBC) who wasn't expected to beat the old Koshimoto. Definitely less hassle than going for the troubled Harrison who might not be fit (mentally) to fight.

Boxrec has Injin Chi down to face Lopez for the WBC title but I haven't read it anywhere else. What a great turnaround for Chi if that happens. Lopez lost a decision to Tommy Browne who Chi beat at a canter. Definitely a winnable fight. Now Chi vs Marquez, there's a match up

the Lopez-Chi winner would be a natural. He does want a rematch with John. If JMM can get a title I'm sure GB would make it worth John's while to come to America.

Perhaps after the indonesian caper he's wary of being jobbed. You cannot blame him, especially if he saw the Harrison v Polo result. I think he would beat Harrison, but maybe he fears that if Harrison finished the fight on his feet he gets the decision.
