in terms of talent, quality matchups and upcoming/expected fights, which is the better division, 130 or 140?

Which one delivers better, which one do you expect to deliver through the rest of 2006 and in 2007?

Junior Lightweight is the best division in Boxing bar none.

Heavyweight is the worst.

Super featherweight for me. The top ten is full of elite fighters, the same cannot be said for 140, though if Castillo, Corrales and Casamayor all move up then it will be running 130 close.

Maybe. But look at light welter. You've got Cotto, Hatton, Witter, Mbaye (IMO one of the smoothest boxers in the sport right now), Rabah (excellent mover, really he beat Urango), Harris.

Upcoming fights include Cotto-Quintana, Hatton v Urango & more importantly, Castillo. Harris is highly rated for Witter's title. Nothing set as yet for Mbaye and Rabah.

Super featherweight for me, and that's at British and World level.

The possibilities in this this division are endless at the moment.

By the 4th round of Guzman-Barrios fight, I was dreaming of images of the Pacman and Guzman going at it hammer and tong.

If the top 9st 4lbs guys keep meeting each other and produce the goods in the ring, this could period could be looked at as a golden patch for the weight division.

Problem with 130, is there's a bit of an exclusive club. MAB, Morales, Pac. All of whom will be locked in big money bouts. That's fine & we all want MAB-Pac II. But I can see roivalries possibly fizzling out.

...With 140, everyone's on an even keel. Even hatton will be a co-challenger for the title that used to be his...

I can't see either of those top 130s fighting Guzman. Valero can't fight in America cos of his head. St Clair makes for good fights with anyone, given his head movement and punch volume (& he knows whatever he faces, he's seen worst given that he had fights with Harris and Corrales where he was DWARVED).

No Cotto-Quintana is for Welterweight WBA title mate, so Cottos left, Gattis left, Mayweathers left, as has Mitchell/Judah/Tyszu.

Also it all comes down to what fights are made. At 130 MAB/MORALES/PACMAN will all square off. At 140 were not guaranteed big fights

you're right, Cotto's moving up, forgot about that

Gatti was never elite anyway, Tszyu (rival belt holder & true champion) & Witter (his top contender at one point) would've ended his career and turned his puffy face into an overripe bisected melon. Hatton would've beaten him down so badly he would sink into a crater, Harris would've taken the notion of 'punching through' the target to another level. Never liked watching Gatti after the first TH Patterson fight.

New generation of 140s look really good. I think M'baye looks the most skilled.

But Mbaiye was fighting someone that looked like he shouldnt have been in the same ring. Haven't seen the next gen of 140lbers, Rock Allen may be 1 for the future although hes a bit Jeff Lacyesque

true, and Balbi was smaller. but Balbi is experienced & did hold a title (once, briefly). Perfect showcase for Mbaye's skills. How do you say Manyequilla in French? That should be his nickname, as he's definitely 'smooth as butter'

Dude, it's "mantequilla". And the French for butter is "Buerre" which, even if you can roll your r's properly (and I can't) sounds nowhere near as cool as the Spanish.

Super Feather at the moment, I think there are alot of devision better than 140.

Middle is looking tasty in terms of strength in depth. Welterweight is still pretty tasty.

130 is currently the best and most exciting division in boxing IMO.
