If Kessler beats Beyer, looks like Kessler-Andrade in Canada

If Kessler beats Beyer, the Dane could well end up fighting Librado Andrade in Montreal, with Lucian Bute on the undercard. Interbox & Team Palle getting together possibly.
I don't know if a 4 belt unification is going to happen any time soon. It will take a good push from HBO to change minds here.
IMO, if Calzaghe beats the dangerous Bika, it's more likely we see him in with a Danny Green or Glen Johnson at light heavyweight. With JC's weight problems, he's no way going to wait for Kessler being ready in the middle of next year.
Looks like Kessler could well start stealing Calzaghe's thunder. Two VERY tough dangerous contenders waiting to get him. If Kessler beats Beyer, Andrade & Bute he goes near the top of my p4p list.
Calzaghe will have to make some serious waves at light heavyweight. Fair play to Calzaghe, he'll probably leave 168 after defense number 20 & probably wasn't bothered about fighting Mikkel Kessler anyway.
Just my take on things.

I'll buy a ticket for this show, but where do you heard this ????
I'm a little surprise than kessler will move to canada ... can interbox generate more money in montreal than team palle in danemark ????

What I have seen of Lucian Bute I have been very impressed by. Reminds me a lot of Calzaghe in terms of build and style.
He could be a real danger to Kessler - fair play to him if he goes into Bute's backyard to take him on...

....except that he does not slap his punches.
However, Kessler would come too early for Bute. Bute is now where Kessler was 2, 3 years ago.
Then again, it bugs me that Team Palle act as if they had beaten Beyer already. If Kessler doesn't take Beyer seriously he could be in for a nasty surprise.

Kessler-andrade could be great fun and a wonderful showcase for kessler if he is as good as we think he is...

Andrade and Bute though very promising are both a bit green, they really need a couple of top 10 SM's on their record before considering a title shot.

I agree taki, however I think that the co-event fight for kessler/andrade would be Bute agains a top10 opponnent for an title shot.

Andrade only really has Grant on his record. I would have taken him to do a number on an ageing Beyer, but Kessler is a different proposition. Bute needs another 12-18 months and 2/3 solid top 10-15 168lbers before a title shot. Just my opinion...

True, still a lot more than Bika has on his record!

You wont catch me defending Calzaghe/Bika... Warren wants shooting for that pile of shit.
NB: I should add that 'wants shooting' is just a phrase and NOT a threat against Mr. allegedly's person...

LOL, but you will change your mind after Bika gives Calzaghe a scare. I think at some point Bika is going to surprise Calzaghe and make him work for the win.

You keep saying this, but 4 shared rounds with Beyer proves fook all. Look at the rest of his record - average at best.

not necessarily. the point that ppl like to make is that Beyer is a slow starter who comes on late. Guess who else does? Sakio's jab was already working, what would've happened when he got his power shots in, during the mid rounds. Beyer would've been caned & that's why he pulled out the fight with a cut UNDER his eye.
Bika had his measure from a technical standpoint and was easily beating Beyer to the jab. Because the fight was so short there is a tendency to overanalyze. However, he made Beyer miss nearly every snappy straight left from the southpaw stance. He made Beyer fall over, just by sidestepping out of the way. There was something instinctual and clever about what Bika was doing & he was doing it versus a tricky southpaw - that very fact emphasises that he's come very far technically.
I've seen Bika before, I don't need to look throigh his record. The biggest worry about Bika in the past was that he was crude and cuffed. Well, he doesn't any more and looks tuned in to fighting southpaws

Beyer is done. Bika probably would have taken him the distance and got stiffed on the scorecards, but I think Bute, Andrade, Veit, Lacy, and most other top 10 SM's would've probably beaten him or taken him very, very close. Beyer is fighting Kessler because, like Chris Byrd. he knows he's done and is looking for a big payday.

Bika hasn't beaten anybody and that is all we can go on right now. And he's really a middleweight. I reckon Calzaghe will go right through him in a very one sided fight.

It's not defintive knowledge, just my opinion. Isn't expressing one's opinion on matters of boxing the whole point of posting?
I do KNOW the only reason you're questioning my opinion (that Beyer is pretty much shot) is so that when Kessler beats him you can pretend it means more than it actually does. I'm afraid that even if Kessler KO's Beyer in 1 round it's still less significant that Calzaghe's shut-out of Lacy... like it or not.

Let's add for clarification: your last sentence was an opinion, too
(a habitually absurd one, as would go without saying).
As for the subject, Beyer didn't show any sign of "being shot" in his previous fights -- while Lacy showed plentiful signs of being a one-dimensional slugger with poor defense in his pre-Calzaghe fights.

at m/w he looked severely underdeveloped, nay - emaciated!

Nick, sometimes names don't show how good they are.
Until I see Bika, I'm not sure what to think about him.
Not bad for keeping active though.
You people were favouring Lacy even though Joe fought better names.

But Lacy had actually beaten decent fighters. Look at Bika's record he has been fighting absolute no marks other than Soliman which he lost and Beyer which proved nothing. And he's a middleweight.

I agree, Andrade definitely needs another fight with a top ten opponent to really have the experience neccessary to have success against a guy like Kessler, especially considering Andrade's very brief amateur career.
What I don't like in all of this is Mikkel's team making plans for a post-Beyer world, yes Kessler is a heavy favourite but this is boxing and Beyer is ranked near the top of the weightclass. Anything can happen, especially if you start underestimating top rated opponents.

Actually Beyer proved that Bika can handle a super middleweight world champion for 4 rounds.

Big deal, Beyer was beaten by Christian Sanavia. He has off nights.
Bika has proved fook all, he has no decent wins on his record and he's a middleweight. I dont care how you try and dress it up. Easy fight for Calzaghe.

How the hell could anyone definitively tell Beyer was shot against the likes of Sheika (possibly the most shot SM on the planet) and Alberto 'who the fornicate is he?' Colajanni? Going 50/50 over 4 rounds with Bika didn't exactly set the world alight either. Beyer has CLEARLY been ducking anyone approaching top 10 status for 18 months... he's done and he knows it. If Kessler wins the result will be no more impressive than Calzaghe beating Eubank (who was better and far less over the hill than Beyer).
Btw, I don't think you are in a position to be lecturing anyone on 'absurd opinions'...
