IMO its hard to go past Tony 'Mad Dog' Miller Vs Michael Ayers. Miller was beat up so badly the Captain of the plane back to Australia refused to let him on the plane.

William Joppy took a freaking bad ass beating against Hopkins, and i remember his face totally swollen and fucked up after the fight...

Without a doubt i would say the worst one sided beating I've ever seen was Larry Holmes almost torturing Randy " Tex " Cobb. Even the commentators were having trouble watching it.

It's hard to top the recent memory of Lacy's pounding.

Saad-Muhammed vs Y. Lopez
And Saad came back to win.

Just some recent ones..
Ajamu got spanked by Roy Jones. He required surgery on a busted nasal passage and a injured kidney.
Tarver sure did get spanked by Hopkins too.
Not on the level of Lacy-Calzaghe.. but still two good beatdowns.

In the past George Chuvalo took some big punishment from Ali and Foreman among others and never went down once, though his foreman fight was technically stopped.

That is a fair comment. Unfortunately though boxing is not a recent phenomenon.

Both Gatti and Ward in their first fight.
Bowe vs Golota 2. Bowe was getting hammered around the ring like a 250lb rag doll. This might not qualify as the fight didnt go the distance.

Are we talking about knocked out or knocked down?

Chavez/Taylor. Should of went to a decision instead of being stopped with like 3 seconds left in the fight. Taylor took it so bad, he was never the same again

Steele made a decision based on his experience and judgment. Say JCC hits Taylor again al la Curry / McCrory, who can say we would not have had another McClellan or Watson?

Winky Wright, and his lack of power, did quite a number on the face of Felix Trinidad. However, I don't think anything in recent memory compares to Lacy/Calzaghe.

Klitschko and Williams.
Unless TKO's count in this thread too but he did beat the counts and was going back for more until Nady waved it off.

I can't wait for Lacy to go on and win another title at some point, so Brits who claimed he was extremely one dimensional in 2006 can call him one of the best fighters at 168 to blow up Calzaghe's weak resume, in a very Honeyghan/Curry style. This statement is directed at one person, Brits, take no offense....I love ye.

Nah I think if you include the point docked off Calzaghe for the very dangerous punch behind back move. Plus the laces from Calzaghe's gloves were hitting Jeff in his eye from round 1 which of course was unfair.
I think Lacy just shaded it.

TEX COBB LOOKED LIKE GROUND BEEF WHEN LARRY HOLMES WAS DONE WITH HIM.
IT WAS DISGUSTING.

Don King...Richard Steele...is that you? There was 3 seconds left in the fight!!! J.C.C. could have shot Taylor and he wouldn't have fallen in that amount of time with the distance between them. If that fight didn't scream fix, what does?

Armageto....I'm not a conspiracist...I think it was just bad bad bad judgment. But corruption? Yeah maybe but a good rule of thumb is.... never blame ill intention for what is far more likely to be imcompetence.
