It's true Joe ain't faced the top opposition,it annoys all of us.
Hopefully he will look for the big names from now on in.Would be nice to hear the haters once Joe beats up someone like Jermain Taylor for 12 rounds!

i'm kinda hoping bika wins, not just for money but for the unification that would definitely follow, as opposed to calzaghe winning and there being no unification.

I won't be supporting Bika, but if Bika wins I will have a good laugh.

I think Calzaghe would unify with Kessler, if someone like HBO makes it worthwhile. Showtime pussied out of involving Kessler when Lacy got beat. Hypocrites - they're supposed to deliver fights, rather than manufacture stars. Obviously they had a lot riding on Lacy, although HBO had planned to "steal" a victorious Left Hook.

ha. calzaghe would not unify with kessler. He had no interest in Lacy, the american initiated every single stage of making that fight, joe had to be brought kicking and screaming to the table.

kessler wouldn't have the same urgency in pressing for the fight since he basically would have the same claim to top dog as joe once he beats Beyer, he can do a sven ottke but in denmark.

Hell, the guy doesn't even want to fight in america! Even Warren is trying to get him to have his next fight there! so much for HBO being willing to back this guy.

I really can't see Calzaghe wanting to fight Kessler. If Kessler wins then I can see Calzaghes next fight up at 175lbs leaving Kessler v the likes of Andrade & Bute..

Calzaghe has already said he wants to unify. Just waiting for Kessler to do his part.

Sounded like it was the Kessler camp who didn't want the Calzaghe fight, and who can blame them?

If the two met JC would no doubt be favorite with the bookies, so why would team Kessler want to risk their main man and Danish sporting hero in a fight he might well lose?

It's early days in the King Kessler reign, and no doubt they're hoping for a few money spinning slam dunks before risking it all with Joe. Makes sense.

Even the big Kessler fans have to admit: it's not a fight he's definitely going to win is it?

Joe said as much himself in a recent interview.
He wants to be a two-weight champion, and claims to struggle making 168 lbs.

He'll beat Bika tonight so long as he's trained well, but I really can't see Calzaghe vs. Kessler ever happening.
If he starts saying Mikkel doesn't deserve a shot, I might start calling him Calzigzaghe.

that's not fair. at all. Kessler has already beaten Mundine in AUSTRALIA, and he plans to have two fights in Canada vs very tough fighters Andrade & Bute

who cares if Lacy initiated the fight. He did the division a favour, but not in the way that he intended! Super middleweight is moving in the right direction, finally.

IF there havent been sold a crapload of tickets this week, then there wont be any danish promotor to hold Kessler fights in Denmark, so he has to fight abroad.

All this fight dodging just heightens my respect for guys like the late Patterson.

Fight dodging? There a unification fight tonight - Kessler-Beyer - which will probably lead to a 4 belt unification, between Calzaghe and the WBA/WBC holder. Doesn't get much more meaningful than that. If Calzaghe had a chin like Patteron he might've been out cold after Lacy nailed him with that big right early on, LOL. He would certainly be done in by the Byron Mitchell right hander.

It's hard to gauge who dodged who. I mean, it was Hopkins and Collins that pulled out vs Calzaghe. And yet Calzaghe didn't go near Jones. Telesco and Echols - 2 pretty dangerous men - pulled out also, leaving Calzaghe to face awful opponents at the last minute (I think it was McIntyre and Pudwill). Calzaghe did pull out from Johnson 3x, but when the fight was agreed on this year, Johnson lost to Woods. Calzaghe was ready to defend vs Brian Magee in '5, but he found out 2 days before the fight that Universum had won purse bids, making him call the fight off to fight veit (his mandatory) in Germany. And so Calzaghe gets backlash even though it was down to the sneaky German promoters. JC's dad refused a fight with Librado Andrade, that is pretty unforgivable given that JC is meant to be fighting dangerous opponents.

Anyhow, JC's career isn't complete. That's why there is some excitement & anticipation left. The book is open and after the Lacy win people are interested.

They may have been interested after the Lacy fight but I'm pretty sure that quite a number of boxing fans have completely lost interest in him now that he's fighting Bika
