Foster apparently had his ears boxed off by Derry Matthews.
Foster lost the decision on the judges scorecards ...
118-108
118-110
119-107
He got dropped in the 10th.
Had possibly his best round in the 5th.
Matthews I am told on this performance will go far ... but I question how bad was Foster??

Impressive performance from Matthews, that. With a bit of work he can definitely go places in what is currently a pretty weak featherweight division.

Yep, agree. He was a class above Foster - who should have been stopped a few rounds before (especially with the pretty grotesque swelling).
I might be jumping the gun, but I'm not sure Nicky Cook could have handled Foster as easily. Although, Foster does seem to be off the rails a little compared to the prospect who was so impressive vs Sean Hughes and so resiliant vs Gary Thornhill.

well done derry.
that was a very accomplished performance against a strong lad, and i have to admit i was concerned wether derry was physically strong enough to cope with foster before the fight.

Really felt the corner could have pulled Stephen to fight another day!!!
That fight would have taken an awful lot more out of Foster when there was no need as the fight was lost!!!

Yep, and Dave Parris (I believe, bit crap when it comes to names) was also very brave. I don't like seeing those swellings and I do think extra caution should be used when they occur.

I really do not think Foster is a massive puncher and thus the chances of him getting a KO in those latter rounds were slim.
Silly move by the corner ... and yes as you put it the Ref should have stopped it as well.
Surprised there were not some more protests from those sitting in the front row at ringside to stop the fight!!

I agree that it should have been stopped. Foster was starting to look like the Mekon.
At 23 I think Matthews has a good future, but he should stick around at domestic and Commonwealth level for a while yet. He needs to be a bit stronger and work on a few technical things before he starts looking for bigger fish. Like I say though, if the likes of Rudy Lopez and Eric Aiken can win world titles at featherweight then Matthews has a chance too.

Matthew's Vs Morris would rock! A British title is winnable for Derry.
Hope he fights in Liverpool next.

derry impressed me but looks vulnerable to body shots - he has a very good jab and follows up well. i can see him improving further and going a long way in this div

Derry rose to the challendge brilliantly. As highly as I rate Matthews I really didn't feel he had enough experience to match Foster over the championship course but in between unloading punishing bursts of punches and spoiling to nullify Foster's work he showed he's ready for the British title and will take some beating.
I know Warren took the punters money on the premise that this was a world title fight but we all know it was a British title eliminator.
Matthews Morris next please....any chance that WBU title can be ditched?

as i said before matthews askiu then you see he not very good. He came accross as a very typical scouser aggrogant to me.
